Lockdown Scramble
4 Man Texas Scramble
The course is immaculate; the weather reminiscent of a Mediterranean winters day and due to be set fair but the irony is as of now we can not play golf.
Today
the field totalled 56 and we were delighted to have four late entrants Messrs.
Bryden, Robinson, Aldridge and Hiam, no doubt owing to buggies being allowed.
Good decision ( Capt & Vice ) to change to 4-ball Scramble as tee-Times were at a premium , Course was extremely busy with other members desperate to get one last round in before Lockdown II.
The winners showed every other team a clean
pair of heels, winning by 4 shots, which in this format is a fair whipping. For those teams whose scores were not so
good, yet achieved a 2, will be disappointed that 8 other 2`s reduced the
payout to 77pence each.
However, a special mention to Messrs.
Campbell/Dewar/Davis/Smallwood as they managed a brace of twos.

Mark Cording
Vice Captain
We found it very speedy for the first person to arrive at the chosen ball ( which you should be able to decide pretty early) - to mark it and get set-up to play the next shot. Very helpful if you have people in buggies who are ahead of the walkers. No real need to touch the other ball, but it's OK to do so if on a closely mown area , as in preferred lies. In the past, we always had to play after the player of the chosen ball arrived - but you can do it any order now. In our game, is was usually Danny or Roger's ball we played after the Drive, so Phil and I had often both played on before they even arrived. Even more useful when putting as the two lower handicappers could learn from our putts..on the rare occasions that we missed of course.....just saying.... !
