England Golf react to Gov Announcement

From Vice Captain

But Golfers are fighting it, with the 100,000 Signhatures already exceeded. See Link below to add your vote.

Dear fellow golfer

The Government should allow golf courses to stay open so families or individuals can play golf in order to exercise safely.

This could be achieved on golf courses, whether families or individuals are playing rounds. On the course everyone can keep a safe distance from each other. Let's make use of the space and the open air. Golf can help people stay healthy and happy whilst observing social distancing rules.

If you agree that golf courses can safely stay open please sign the petition in the following link. At 100,000 signatures this petition will be considered for debate in Parliament.

Medal Qualifier

Notice:- As of Monday we are moving back to the clubhouse and we will be trying to do a draw for all those who are present from next Wednesday. We will have all the comps ready for online signup so that seniors can register their interests. If you turn up on the day, we will put your name on the list and do a draw and pass the list to the Pro Shop so that they can take the entry fee from your account. This way we will not have a situation whereby we have done a draw and a member of the drawn team doesn’t turn up or someone turns up  and can’t participate because the draw was done a day or two earlier. It is similar to the way we did the rollups before with the exception of collecting the entry fees and handling the name cards. We have 5 tee times between 8:10 - 8::42 that can be used by the early group and 11 tee times between 9:02 onwards. A member of the early group needs to take control and do a draw for their group. I propose the latest time of arrival for the early group is 7:50 and 8:40 for the late group.

Oh No...he went and did it....

Golf lesson of the day:-

1.       Concentrate on your game & remember to tee off from the correct tee.

2.       When you realise that you have teed off the wrong tee & incurred 2 penalty points, do not try to gain the lost point on the same hole as inevitably there is going to be additional penalties. We all know that golf is a funny game. The harder you try the worst you play. You hit right and the ball goes left, you hit left it goes right. Just accept golf doesn’t work that way and you end up getting anything from 8-12 shots for the hole. This guy in question got away with it and only had 9. I believe I have been talking about lessons learned, but obviously NOT. A quiz question:- How many strokes do you think one will have in a hole if one plays with 5 different balls on that hole and only lost one ball? All the numbers you thought of were wrong. The answer is 8 and it was John Wandless on the 6th.

Back to golf now. Not good scores across the board with no one hitting a par round. The best score of the day was net 73. In fact the scores were so bad the Standard Scratch for the course was 72 up by 3 from 69. There were no handicap changes either way because of the scores. This being the last game under the old handicap rules isn’t going to be remembered for long. As of Monday we are moving to World Handicap System ( WHS ) and we are expecting chaos due to the fact that the handicaps have not yet been transferred to a unified handicap system yet and we are keeping our fingers crossed that everything is going to be ok On Monday. Check the CST system for your Handicap Index and find your playing handicap for the day from the lookup table that will be displayed somewhere at CST.

 From Keith Branchmanager:-

Hi John,

Can you put on the blog a desperate plea for another member to join Hilson and Branchflower's Winter League team. There is no signing-on fee or salary, only grateful thanks.
