Four Ball Reverse Medalford
Chatted to Mike Light who will be bidding farewell to his Wife of 62 years at a private Family Funeral in Taunton on Thursday 4th September. Due to current regulations he is limited to only the very closest of Family members attending - which is difficult as he has about 60 in that category. Even his Cousin Rodney Drayton, who he was playing with yesterday, will probably not be able to attend.
Mike gave up everything over the past few years to look after Grace as her health gradually failed. He wishes to support Alzheimer's Charities to help prevent others having to suffer this truly horrible disease and we are happy to collect any donations to give to him.
Nice to see Ken & Jackie Trussell up there for lunch with friends - enjoying that last day of the 50% discounts. Ken informs us that they are on the move again, looking for a nice place nearer the beach for those strolls along the promenade we all love to do.
OK guys, we now
have 13 slots block-booked for Wednesdays between 8:02 and 10:02 with 2 slots
8:50 and 8:58 reserved for other members or visitors. We need to turn up in
numbers to occupy these slots so that they don’t reduce them or remove them again.
They will probably open the marquee for Wednesdays as well but not until 2nd
or 3rd week in September. For the time being I suggest that you
register your interest by either sending me a message (07810880530) or by
email to james@higrade.com and maybe
putting your name down on a list outside the pro shop if there are any free
spaces to pin a form to. We also have a
block booking for Monday 31st and normally we don’t get a block
booking for Bank Holiday Mondays. Please inform me if you wish to
participate. We will decide on a game format once we know who is attending. |

Don't forget Monday is officially a 'Mates Day' - as traditionally we never got allocated slots on a Bank Holiday. Anyone is welcome to join us for something like a 2 from 3 Stableford - but it would be very helpful if you can give Captain an idea as in the above request.
Wednesday 26th August 4B Medalford
With so much confusion surrounding Wednesday rollup we
somehow managed to get teams out in an organised manner. 29 seniors turned up
for this event and left the late arriving Dickie Hall, Ken Trott & Mike
Dawson one man short. We took a card from the pile at random and added the
score of one of the players to Mike Dawson’s card as a random pro score. Eight
early arrivals managed a draw for 2 teams of 4 and started the game rolling
giving us time to organise the remainder. Hopefully we will be more organised
and do a draw the night before until the marquee is open.
Once the cards were in, one card was noticed to have some
discrepancy due to score of one player being put on the wrong column. Once that
score was taken away, 2 cards had identical score of 24 and the winners took
the honours on back 9 scores (10 against 11) There were two 2’s scored by the
same team which happened to be the winning team.

From JKP - Having seen Mark checking all the cards, it seems to me to be better doing 2 cards, one for each pair - it was pretty complicated cramming all 4 players on 1 card and quite difficult to work out who was doing medal in each quarter.
Clive , as usual, restores normality:-
I bought a pair of gloves on eBay last week and they were both left hand gloves!
On one hand I was quite happy, but on the other hand I
was quite disappointed!
Cheers Sir Clive
