Bank Holiday Mates-Day

Wednesday Draw

Game Rules

3 Yellow balls per team. Low handicapper hole index 1-6, Mid handicapper hole index 7-12 & High handicapper hole index 13-18. If a player loses his yellow ball, he no longer can use a yellow ball and the two playing partners can't use their yellow ball for the next 2 holes. Their score for these 3 holes will be as scored and not double points. This rule applies for each lost yellow ball. Each yellow ball returned will add 2 points to the teams totals.

Firstly apologies for getting the wrong day for the Grace Light Funeral, it is, of course on Friday.  Mike is having a rather strange week thus far. He was surprised to find out that his Wife of 62 years, Grace - was actually christened 'Gracie' .

Then more sad news  as he was informed that Grace's younger sister,   Wendy, aged 72 had passed away just days afterwards. The older Sister of the Three, also living in Shepton, is said to be traumatised at the news of losing both her siblings.

Mike is at  No.1 , The Cressy, Shepton Beauchamp, Ilminster, TA19 0LH

For Wednesday 2nd September we have 13 slots and the format for that day will be 2 from3 stableford Yellow Ball. To be in the draw I will need notifications so, if you are intending to participate please let me know by Tuesday 6 pm. If there are any leftover slots, then the tail enders can arrange their own friendly games.

So far I have 27 confirmations ( Please see list below).

Monday 31st August 3B stableford all to count

The feedback from today’s participants was positive about the arrangement in place. Draw was done the night before and tee times allocated and everyone knew when to arrive for their game and everything went rather smooth I must admit. We intend to deploy the same process for Wednesday. This way some participants arrive early and have their teas and coffees before going out and those who don’t want wait too long, arrive a few minutes before their allocated tee times. The pro shop gets the list of participants emailed to them so that they have their record of track & trace in case they need to do so.

A beautiful day for playing golf with 29 seniors and one lady guest golfer made up the 10 teams of 3B stableford all to count. My two playing partners covered my failure on some of the holes and we had a net 1 over par for our round which was 6 points ahead of the 2nd placed team and 24 points more than the last placed team. We had a star amongst us and the lady played very well and to top it all, she donated her winnings to my charity. Thank you Jan for the donation, even better for beating the men. I think a few of them will find it hard to forget being beaten by a lady.

There were three 2’s earning each member of those teams £1.67 for their effort. Results for the day are as follows:

Great to see one of the Ladies joining us for this 'Mates Day' - but a little ruse i feel to score 38 Points and win all the money.
Well organised by the Captain once more as the start list was published the day previous.

Are you joining us Wednesday for the 2 from 3 Yellow ball - names to Captain please.
This will be using the new rules, with 3 Yellow Balls, all getting bonus points for safe return ( 6,4,2) - If any players loses the Yellow, he is without for the duration ( so no double points) and the yellow cannot be used by any player for 2 more holes...
This may not be as bad as it seems if say the Low Handicapper loses it on the 1st, then Middle handicapper cannot use it on the 2nd, but on the 3rd it would have been low handicapper again so they have not given up another 'Yellow' Hole unnecessarily..I'll stop now as I can hear the eyes glazing over....
See the source image

Clive sent in this of his playing partners, with what looks like writing in the Clouds...which is where Clive's head is normally anyway...

Geoff Dean arrived as we were leaving, starting to play a few games.
Geoff & Janice have been supposedly 'isolating' since March.
He did confess that he went down to Seaton a few times in March & April, pushing the rules a little but really enjoyed the empty roads. When I asked if he was concerned about getting caught by the 'quarantine police'  - he smiled and replied " I'm 87, what are they going to do about it ?"

For those of you that have found the best Fish Restaurant in Dorset, down on Hive Beach - you can see the National Trust Car Park on the right...

,,the Landscape has changed a little as 9000 tons of dead Dinosaurs fell onto the beach at the weekend..right where a Woman was killed just 2 Years since...

Judith Bryden did mention that she hadn't seen Ted and the Dog since Saturday - but thought she'd give it another few days before raising the alarm as he was always wandering off these days....

..just kidding honest.......
