Following negotiations with Alex and a particularly
helpful Lisa, the Club have agreed to open the marquee at 8am from next Friday 24th, which paves the way
for a return to roll ups. This is
specially to help the senior section, so it is very important that we support
this both in numbers and purchases of food and drink to make it worth their
trouble. There are sufficient tables
both inside and out, so regardless of weather we can still safely social distance.
Lisa is happy that all Covid regulations will be met. There are already
many tee times booked for Friday by seniors, but we may need a few more if
possible. We will aim to have the
first draw at 08.00 and the second around 08.45. We are starting this with a 4 ball better
ball and the entry fees will be as normal.
There is also the potential for the finals of the knock outs to be
played during these new roll ups.
Initially for the first day we need to know who is likely to turn up and
at what time, to ensure we have enough tee times as we do not have a block
booking at the moment but this will hopefully change if we get sufficient
support from our section. Both the
Captain and Vice Captain or at least one of them will be there at 08.00 to hopefully
arrange the draws.
PLEASE
NOTE
ANY PLAYERS WHO HAVE BOOKED TEE TIMES PRIOR TO 08.00 CAN STILL ENTER THE 4 BALL
BETTER BALL COMPETITION, THEIR DRAWN PAIRS AND TEE TIME WILL BE ANNOUNCED DAY
BEFORE.
ANYBODY WITH AN EXISTING T TIME BETWEEN 08.00 & 08.45 WILL NEED TO ROLL UP
AT 08.00 TAKEAWAY DRINKS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF STARTERS
AFTER 08.00
These Players are on WhatApp, There is another List in the Clubhouse / Area for you to add names.
Please start using marquee facilities as what we do now may affect how the Club moves to support us in the future. Every effort is being made to protect you all.
Currently
apart from those

wish to stick to their groups. If you know them and are in contact
please chase them up because not everyone is on what’s app. We will
then have roughly 10 slots on or after 08.45 so can accommodate 40 golfers
Thanks.

Plenty going on elsewhere as I trawl through the WhatsApp postings.
teams for Jubilee Silver Salver are building well, but short of our 66 target. I see Norman, Andy B & Mark Coleman have just formed a nice little trio. Number are up to 45 but still time to enter your Threesome.
Colin Ireland, that well known Serial Winner & bandit is looking to form a team.Could join Mike Hone if he is still short.
2019 Winners with a score of 57.
In the Summer Knockout , the final Line-Up is now formed as Cool-Hand Nick ground out a win against the Vice-Captain 2 & 1.
In the other half of the Draw, Keith Hunt moves on by defeating Andy Rowland 4 &3, with Keith reporting "It was much closer than it sounds".
Captain wants to do something special for 'Finals Day'
Thinking
of doing the knockout finals on the same day integrating into the rollup event.
Pairs finalist going out as a four and the singles likewise. The comp for the
is a 4BBB format which makes it an ideal thing. With a big crowd at the end
for the honours presentation. We already have a singles cup but need to get a
cup for the pairs before the AGM presentation
PS - Thank you all very much for the way you entered and participated , booked your Tee-Times and told us of the results. It sure makes my life a lot easier and is much appreciated.
..and of course my congratulations to the Finalists, Nick & Keith in the Singles and Jeremy/Gordon, with Mark/Roger in the pairs.

In the Pairs, the Final will be a tough Match between 2 pairings that have steam-rollered all opposition thus far as the Bulldozer ( Blackburn & Brent) lock horns in the winner-take all final against the speed & elegance of Con-Cording & Wing Commander Davis.
who knows what can happen ?
Presumably a report will ensue from Yesterdays 2 from 3, some scores already reported are:-

Jolly Roger, Farmer Bob & Barrie 85 ( 46 B9)
Peter 3 names, Simon Scarborough, Dave Mugridge 84 Points
Mark Cording, Roger Davis & Frankie 82 Points
Jeremy, Steve Holt & Edmundo 76 Points
Was surprised to see on yesterday’s blog that I was part
of a successful three ball.... I can dream.
Unless of course it was one of your usual windups. Still read the blog daily rather wistfully and seeking humour In daily scores.
Best wishes to all. Shielder handcuffs thrown away on 1st August so may creep up one day.
