Lockdown Day 35

Nice bit of welcome rain for the next few days and from the pictures we've seen of all your gardens, no doubt it is all very welcome.  Boris was quieter that I'd expected yesterday, but numbers all look great..just have to wait to see if they jump up on Tues/Wed or stay below 500 which will allow Boris some flexibility.

One amazing figure I read yesterday, was that at 56,521 - the USA have now lost as many to CV19 that they lost in the Vietnam War..which ran for nearly 20 Years

..Now listen to Donald's typical audience, sorry about poor Video as it is a film of a film..thanks Nick...

Mike H spotted...
Wales has been told there is a "realistic prospect of being allowed to reopen by the middle of May", but with a number of strict social distancing measures remaining in place out on the golf course.
Only two-balls will be allowed on the course to begin with, and tee times will be made online with at least 10 to 15-minute gaps in between groups.
Clubhouses will likely remain closed, but bathroom facilities will be open.
https://www.golfmagic.com/golf-news/british-golf-courses-expected-reopen-may
..but no doubt there will be some sort of one-liner saying.."For all those under 70 !"
One good thing about being locked down for 36 Days is that being Seniors, we have probably forgotten some of the earlier Videos, don't forget all are still available by clicking 'Older Posts' at the bottom of the page.

..but I did love this one, just for the facial expressions !
Eric is getting frustrated as our Censorship Team keep rejecting some of his submissions ...so he has forced me into posting this one after Billy's one got through Yesterday...

Hi John answer to puzzle is 679! But you have probably worked that out already.

Stay well   Jeremy
Martin & Eric worked it out.

Martin also had a good try at the Celebrity Golfers - Picture Quiz, but Nick rejected 2 of his answers...

Martins's  answers for the picture quiz..

1/ Alice Cooper

2/ Cameron Diaz

3/ Catherine Zeta Jones

4/ Hugh Grant

5/ Michael Jordan

6/ Matthew PinsentPayton Manning (NFL Quarterback)

8/ Chris Martin  Justin Timberlake

back to the fun with animals theme

and Billy with a cockney one, he put a lot of work into those signs.

and this one sneak past the Censor because of its sheer artistic nature...

Sir Clive reports...
Caught this large chap lurking outside our house, only took three strides and he was gone....

Think he was wanting some putting lessons from Val!

He commented on how much he was enjoying the Blog; well done John, see it is appreciated!
(but it's the contributors that are doing all the work)

Clive then added....

Another stupid idea for you to consider.

How about members submitting photographs of themselves with a celebrity/ sports personality/ famous folk/politicians whatever? And a brief explanation.

Now watch the next one carefully, even Martin & Debbie will struggle to crack this one...

Now a welcome snippet from Ted & Judith down in Bridport, how communivcations can go wrong - Howdy Ted, hope all is OK.

Now some work from you, Word Teasers from one of Diana's English School Books, Level A,B,C so I guess level A should be easiest..

so let's end this morning with one sent from Mr D - very close to Sir Clive...

..Classical Music on the Bag-Pipes and shows us why Pipers are generally seen playing out on a lonely Glen somewhere...

..back to work as the Dishwasher seems to be popping fuses and looks like my plastering/carpentry days  are over for a while as JKP the Electrician appears....

As this week we miss our 15-17th Roll Up .

Boris is back and we get the feeling they've been holding back so that he can make a big impact statement of some sort.

Answer to the Name the Frame quiz of the three boys on the woods was Mike Hone.

Can't give answers to the Somerset Place Names until the Tatworth WI release the answers and I have to hide any results thay come in from my Wife, but some pretty impressive attempts from farmer Bob, Martin, Nick etc.

I don't have the answers to the Celebrity Golfers yet, but again Martin has submitted answers to them all.

Martin has also given the combination of Jeremy's Wine cellar, along with Eric - so we await Jeremy revealing the solution.

Ian Housham gave a pretty impressive answer to Clive's  Chinese puzzle, so we await adjudication...

Eric has sent the Rugby Answers, but we'll give you a day or two.

Hi John,

Using my extensive knowledge of ancient Chinese, and this symbol is very very old.
Like all Chinese the same symbol can mean a number of different words.

In this case the symbol had two meanings:-

1 =  Surname of Lu
2 =  How much the government pay you ie wages

This symbol was pre 1912.

Looking at the photo and the location I would say it is the surname Lu

It does help having a Chinese wife and not only for Chow Mein

Ian Housham

Mike's still walking everywhere..do you know where he's been ?

Selfie opposite Lord Melchett's house... 😂

Billy Hilson has declared this one as 'Suitable' for the Blog, so don't blame me...

..as Richard lowers the standard once more...

Whilst Eric sends a bigger Trump-Thump...

Edmundo finds a way of stretching out a famous old Golf Joke, but you probably need to be sat in a pub with a few beers to be in the mood...

Clive is doing his bit, keeping up with Members...always nice to know someone is thinking of you, even if it is just Clive...

Thanks Clive all is well, garden up to scratch. Hope it won't be to many months before we can play again. Hope all well, keep safe.    Jerry

James has a new favourite tipple...

He's on a Dettol De-Tox

more pain for victims...

and it all happened so fast !

You'd have thought that a Park Ranger would know that Rhinos hate Zebras Crossing...

So let's leave it for today with something to think about and look ahead with positivity.
