Friday 6th March Hare 4BBB competition
Monday update - Lyme Regis on Tues 31st March - Need 1 player for this 'All Day' outing with Presentation Dinner - See External Comps.
alan.chance21@gmail.com - or captain.
Entry Sheet for Round 1 of Knighton Heath posted in Ext Comps - Good Competitive Golf , need 10 lowish Handicap scrappers.
Before I get on with the report, I have been informed that there is an opening for 1 more on the Turkey trip. Anyone interested in going, please contact Mark Cording.
Regretfully we have decided to cancel the Irish Night up at the Club due to a total lack of interest. Thank you for the 3 names that did appear, but there are literally 100's of hours of work that go into such a Night and it needs better support.
No complaints from the Social Committee - we obviously targeted it wrong and will try better next time.
The Club will be holding Irish Nights, so contact them if you wish to participate in celebrating the man who drove the snakes from Ireland..allegedly !
Captain's Report
With much better weather than expected and we had 50 seniors competing for this year’s March Hare Cup. In fact I think we should rename it Peter Spencer-Farr cup as he has now won it 3 times out of the last 4. Peter and Martin defended their title with a very good score of 45 points ( 1 of 4 with this score).
In 2019 They won with 47 Points,
Nick Gabb & Bob Rees sneaked it in 2018 with 44 Points.
Then Peter again in 2017 with Ian Housham (who's he ?) - with even less on 43.
Next year it will be re-named the March Hair ! |
It would have been a different story had Mark Cording and Roger Davis had sunk less than 2 feet putts on 16th and 18th so I am being told. Any one of those misses would have earned them the title outright instead of finishing 4th overall.
There was only 1 Two’s by Malcolm Roy and John Andrew.
It seemed that everybody had a fun day and enjoyed their golf and that is what it is all about. Many more of this type of days ahead of us hopefully.
Sorry to Mick, Geoff & Ted who could not compete due to the Buggy Ban.
