Texas Scramble
Update from The Barehams
We have not moved in yet, but hope to be resident before Christmas. We are fortunate to be staying with Suzannah and family, who live five miles away , while we sort things out and have carpets fitted and decorating done .
We are both well and pleased we have made the move now before we get any older! It has taken us approx three months from thinking about moving until moving in, so you can imagine, we have had a hectic and challenging three months!
Kind regards,
Philippa and Gordon.

Well not exactly but the Original Cracker with the Ladies on 16th looks to be dead, with the Ladies losing too many of their original players when it was re-scheduled from November.
The Captain & Vice, however, are trying to resurrect some sort of Festive event, still played on the `16th' - with the Ladies maybe invited..such as a 2 from 4 with Festive nibbles on the bar as team come in for mini-roast potatoes, pigs-in-blanket, mince pies, warm mulled wine..but maybe imagination is getting carried away here so better wait for the official invitation. Festive Prizes for the day's winners and your last chance to hand over any Christmas Cards.
Sad news that John Jennings wife (Violet) has passed away after a long illness. John hasn't been a member of the Seniors section for many years, due to the fact that he can only get around 9 holes. Seniors from the 70's to the present day will know John very well. His son Paul has also been a member from the 80's.
15 three man teams competed in Texas Scramble Medal and
David Asquith kindly agreed to play in the rolling stableford. It was good to see Bryan Frost's face had
returned to normal and that it did not react to this 18 holes. Heath Robinson (inc. Southgate) tried to build a good score
but only ended mid table. Terry
Rutherford unfortunately had an urgent call from work, so Bryan Frost and
Martin Leigh manfully carried on as a two man team. Messrs Agar, Pearce and Cording coming out
on top with a gross 68 net 58.16
There were some comments about one of the trio winning again, personally I am not sure which one they meant!
Unfortunately it appears that human nature does not permit people to be pleased for others and their
success. However we all know how
temporary form is in golf, so I hope you will keep trying, it boosts the cash
pot.
Gross Net
Cording/ Agar/ Pearce. 16th
Humble apologies to Bryan Frost for pictures placed on Blog about his Face. He was 10000% better today.
However, it did spur him to visit the Doctor again and they started to whisper the word Sepsis - which saw him greeted at Musgrove and immediately put onto an anti-biotic drip.
In true Yorkshire fashion he said to the Nurse at 01:00 "can I go home now" - and jumped into his car back to Crewkerne ,where starving and wide awake, he consumed a 60 Oz bar of Fruit & Nut and went to sleep.
By this morning the lips had gone and today he looked like his old self on the Golf Course.
We on the Blog promise never to abuse you again on these pages......
..well maybe after this one..... |
