Wheathill at Home
After a string of away matches, mostly all of which as a team we
lost 4 to 2, this was a welcome home venue against Wheathill Golf Club. We had
lost to Wheathill away earlier this month so it is pleasing to report that we
reversed that result at home. Looking back to last years matches this pattern
is already working out the same, lose away and win at home. Local knowledge is
the key and it takes a special effort to triumph away.
Nearest the pins for a bottle of wine proved interesting. No one
for the away team managed to score on the ninth however on the sixteenth for
the home team both Roger Davis and Alan Chance claimed they were side by side
and therefor equidistant. Following a putt off in the bar, Alan prevailed but
both were rewarded.
Wheathill to a man were very complimentary about our course which
did look and play magnificently and praised the food and facilities. Glorious
sunshine rounded off a perfect day.
Breakdown of matches as follows:-
Peter Spencer-Farr/ Robin Flower Lost 3 & 1
Dave Mugridge/ John MacOmish Won 3 & 2
Mark Cording/ Derek Gardener Won 3 & 2
Roger Stone/ Mick Aldridge Lost 3 & 2
Roger Davis/ Alan Chance Won 2 & 1
Richard Hall/ Ian Fielder Won 6 &
5
Match Result Won 4 to 2.
Match Result Won 4 to 2.
Result of the day was achieved by Richard and Ian who's opposition
included none other than our good mate John Twose who has now joined Wheathill
and immediately immersed himself into their seniors section.
Next up, Brean Golf club at home team for which is posted in
'Inter club matches'.
Bring them on!
Peter SF. Seniors Capt.

Hi John
Thanks for your blog report on the Greensomes day on Friday which made very good reading! I'd be grateful if, via the Seniors' blog, you would thank Peter and Donna for organising the event, Peter for his great company on the course and everyone for what was a thoroughly enjoyable day. I hope more ladies will be able to take part next year - these joint events are a lot of fun and I'm very much looking forward to playing in your Seniors' Mixed Open on 11 June. Best wishes.
