Wednesday 24th October
October Medal Qualifier
Bit of fun up at the Club as about 45 united for Pie-Night and lots of new acquaintances made. Even met a couple that had literally just joined the Club hours earlier, retired last Friday..and are now part of the Seniors Family, Andy & Carol Read.
They were shocked as I chatted quietly to them, and seconds later their picture was up on the TV..but all a bit of fun.

Alan Davis & Mike Hone won the Whiskey & Baileys in the Irish Bingo  , Ted Bryden won the bumper hamper and the Captain takes the biscuits !

Not quite as planned as a few hadn't ordered anything and a couple were added , but Chef Andy managed to eke out the Chicken Pie which appeared to be most popular. Plenty of Veg to accompany the 3 pies, with Roasted & Boiled Potatoes, Red Cabbage, Swede, Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower and lashings of gravy..not for Nobby of course as he had a gravy-free giant pastie.

Nobby had to drive to Chard to pick up Barrie who was in the Pub, thinking Pie-Night & Captains Dinner were the same event, so was planning on visiting next week.

Now Andy Chisnell is back, Dickie is planning a 'Fish Night' which is a Fish or Curry type event.

Next week, of course, is Barrie & Lorraine's Captain's Dinner where numbers have swelled to near 70 I believe and we will be across at the Horizon's room.
Black-Tie Dinner for many, but your smartest attire would be appreciated for this one and a chance for our Ladies to shine.
Don't forget those nice raffle prizes please.

Early Results from Club Computer as Steve Kitcher Wins again...and seems to have won both Divisions !!!!

as Computer makes 8 Handicap Changes, 6 down and 2 Up.

Only 1 Player recorded a '2'

We Think Andy Beale won Div 2 - ..but he started with a dodgy 9 in the 1st Hole.

We start today with some upsetting news about Gordon (Mac) Everett who suffered a stroke on Monday Night after playing in the Roll-Up on Monday. He is currently in Hospital undergoing treatment, and we believe it was a significant event.

As usual at our age ,

those playing with Mac on Monday say that his behaviour was a little odd, very distracted and walking onto the green with a chipper etc..so something was brewing.
I'm sure you all join us in wishing this happy-go-lucky Member of our Section all the best.

Sat in the 19th today chatting with another 'New Member' - who had actually been with us for quite a while, Mr Gordon Brent  who was leading in the Clubhouse  with 68.

Outside Mr Gordon Bareham was arguing with David Taylor about his score, as they waited to enter on the Computer.

Then I had the shivers.....the past hour up there had included Three 'Gordons' - and we don't have many up there...

only one missing is the Gay Gordon !

Apologies . Just had a call from Gordon Hughes, saying " I hope you don't mean me" - which I cleverly ducked by saying "Of course not, you're Grumpy Gordon" - and then spent an hour talking about hip dysplasia in puppies and he had forgotten what he phoned up for,,,

Lot of noise in the Clubhouse as Nobby & Mr Wallis were locked in Intelligent debate...
