Cyder Cup Latest Thursday 18th Oct 10:20am
There have more last minute withdrawals from Friday's Singles Matches, unfortunately all in the Captain's team. In order to give everyone a game, especially as this is a Singles Matchplay competition which most of us play only once a year, a few changes have had to be made to the draw. This meant that a few members have had to change their allegiance from the Vice Captain's team to the Captain's team. I'm sure that you will understand. Make sure that you read the start list on the Cyder Cup page.
Cyder Cup Report (Foursomes) 17/10/2018
I drove up to the club from Crewkerne at about 07:30 this morning and as I approached the top of Windwhistle I was met with a band of thick mist, oh no not again I thought, but as I got closer to the club it had cleared, thank goodness, all we had to then worry about was the steady drizzle, but at least we were able to get the Cyder Cup up and running

Warning from Motoring Press
.Last September's Isle of Sheppey pile-up involved 130 vehicles in thick fog. Apparently, many of them didn't have their lights on. Obviously, there are some silly people who wouldn't put them on anyway, but I wonder how many instances were down to the stupid technology of light-sensing headlamps. In fog, you need to switch everything on manually because the sensors won't react in daylight fog. This is one of the most stupid things on modern cars and should be banned.
Unfortunately there
were 3 guys who did not show, Mike King, who I understand has family matters in
London, (this was not direct from Mike) Brian Hodder is not well & has also
pulled out from Friday, (this was agreed when I rang him) and Barry Singleton
was down as a reserve but did not know that he had been put in the team, (I
also rang him to see why no show), this meant that one of the vice Captain’s
teams had a walkover and another team luckily had someone there to play.
Now forgetting today for now, this has been a problem all year, I know
there will always be an odd time when something very urgent crops up last
minute, and that’s not that your wife/ partner says no you’re not playing today.
Some of us think that
it’s got to the stage were we need to have a rule to perhaps ban someone for
say 2 comps for not turning up without a phone call!!.
Now that’s off my chest
here are today’s results.
