                Match Report vs Enmore 09/10/2018

We entertained a strong Enmore team at home today for our last home fixture of the season, unfortunately it turned out to be our first loss at home this year, it was the third time in the last two weeks that some of their side had played our course.

The weather again was good, and their Captain did say that the greens were looking in good shape after our course maintenance.
..In fact I love your greens Barrie...

Unfortunately, Ian Griffiths had to retire from his round due to a hip problem, I have spoke to him this morning and he is ok, but he has pulled out of the Cyder Cup next week.

Home team nearest the pin on the 16th was won by Pete-S-F and that was only just on the green, he used his driver along the ground, well not really.

a scruffy looking James strides out with John Twose and already way ahead after just 4 holes....

It’s a shame we couldn’t keep our undefeated home record, but as the Avalon team found out they can call on some very good players, especially off some of their handicaps.
B. Heath  (Captain)

Rollup Report 10th October 2018

2 from 3 Discard

I’m not quite sure how I got landed with this report but it serves me right for keeping a low profile and staying almost to the end of the post prandial drinks.

It was very tight at the top, although three of the top six teams discarded scores on one of the last three holes. Phil Hunt’s team came storming through to score 16 points on the last 3 holes to secure third place. The win by one point was thanks to a fine 5 pointer by John Sweet on the 15th.

There were birdies galore today each paying only 35p,  but the honours go to Martin Leigh for an eagle on the 5th (counts as two birdies) and to Geoff Dean who got the only birdie today on the 13th.

From his card, Mick Aldridge thought he was playing with Rod Stevens when he was playing with Rod Young. The scrutineer spotted this. It would have been to no avail Mick, even if you’d played with Rod Stevens, you wouldn’t have won.
