Canadian Gruesomes
12 early
birds and 28 later starters played today in somewhat warmer conditions than
Monday, we had one player extra today but we had a volunteer who stepped aside,
giving us the even number for today’s competition, The winning score was about
what we predicted for this time of year, with the top six all in the sixty’s.
Chris Hiam & Rod had a steady round underway, until the 18th hole. Both hit compromised tee shots, but Rod hacked out best. Chris then fired at the green only to thud into the bunker, where they remained for the next 4 shots and finally ended their agony by writing '9' in the business column.
We were
pleased to welcome another new member to the seniors section today, a Bill
Pratt
who plays of an 8 HC, Bill I hope you settle in well and enjoy our company in the coming year.
who plays of an 8 HC, Bill I hope you settle in well and enjoy our company in the coming year.
although Bill has been a CST member for 4 years, lives in Crewkerne and works as an accountant.
Nice to see Maurice Arnold back with us after scaffolding work on his hernia.
We hope to
see as many as possible at the AGM on Friday 9th at 13:30, please note that this
year it we be in the Horizons Suite, and not in the marquee as in previous years,
we will as usual be playing a 15 hole
competition on the day to enable us to be on time for the AGM.
And Finally
the Summer Knockout Final was played today, and congratulations to Chris
Gingell on his closely fought 2&1 victory over Roger Hinds. Chris did it the hard-way, having to dispose of Pearce, Hall, Frost and Dowell en-route to the Final with Roger. Well done to Richard Forster for a well run competition and getting it completed before the first snowfall of winter.
There
were 14 birdies today, paying £0.71p per player.

apologies for this late report, it was all completed on Monday, but had to be re-written as extra cards were found downstairs which affected the calculations.
