Seniors Open

Seniors Open 3-Man Texas Scramble 06/09/2018

Thank you to everyone who took part today to help make this another successful Open, as we managed to raise a few hundred pounds for charity.

50 teams entered from around 14 visiting clubs, plus 21 home teams, I was a bit surprised that the winning scores were not a few shots lower, but as you can see from the results my partners and I didn’t mind that at all.

We had some good feed back from the visiting teams, re the course and the organization overall, even the about the food, I spent more than hour over at the halfway house in the afternoon , and had some good feedback from many of the clubs, saying they look forward to coming next year.

As usual JP has done a great job already publishing the results with a few pics thrown in, only one of the nearest the pins was won by a CST member, and that was Des Denning who nearly got a hole in one on the second, Des I have a box of balls for you.

So I would like to say a few thankyous of my own to the stalwarts of our opens, John Pearce, Alan Chance, Nick Hill, Keith Branchflower, Bob Barrow, Mick Aldridge, Peter S-Farr, and all the ladies who once again gave up their time to man the desks and the halfway house, some of us were there for 10 to 12hrs, and a special thank you to Alan Davis who took back our first Open back in July at the very last minute when the club gave it back to us mainly due to our General Manager suddenly departing the scene, and now with successfully guiding us though our last Open of the year, Alan has sadly decided to hang up his seniors open calendar and pass the reins to someone else, a big thank you Alan from all the committee for all the Opens you have helped organise over the last few years.

Donations of £170 were dropped into the Bucket - but some of those cakes were beautiful - thank you all so much.

I wish everyone had the demeanour of these three
- polite, happy and full of fun...

And of course most importantly - 0ur 87 Visitors  who were able to Park in the Front Car Park - well done to those of you that parked around the back and boo-yah to those that 'I always park there' - remember the saying 'Do unto others as you would they would do unto you etc....what fun it is to arrive at a strange club and drive another mile looking for a spot to park.....

OK...I'll say no more !

All were greeted by Ladies and given Cards & Rules prepared by Mick Aldridge - who by now will be on his 2nd Pint in his favourite Hotel in Tenerife.

Ladies took the Meal Choices, updated handicaps, changed a few names around
then sold them Raffle Tickets - remember it's all for that wonderful Child Cancer Charity Clic Sargent.

They were all awarded £40 Vouchers. Minutes later I saw them in the Pro Shop where they had exchanged them for beautiful new Golf Shirts that were £70 Each, marked down to £50 in the sale - so by just adding £10 of their own - they ended up with a great deal - well done Pro Shop for staying Open to the bitter end,.

ACE aims

Regardless of their age or background we believe everyone can benefit from creative inspiration in their lives. Our principle aims as a charity are to promote Art and creative activity, to inspire, empower and enable people to develop and grow.

Alan Davis was the Captain's Representative as usual and once again had organised everything beautifully, getting used to the way CST wish to handle these things and ensuring everything went well.

We have to apologise to Peter Three-names who was a willing beast all day - awaiting his winnings....We had lost a card for one of the Visiting Teams and sent him to chase them up , and give them a stern ticking off for not promptly handing it in to the checkers....until we suddenly realise that they were the Team that had just been DQ'd for Card Issues and poor old Peter got two-barrels right back at him. !
