SENIORS ROLL UP- MONDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER 2018

2 FROM 3 STABLEFORD ( YELLOW BALL) COMP-YELLOW TEES.

1 TO 6 LOW, 7-12 MED, 13-18 HIGH.

Match Report vs Honiton 10/09/2018

We travelled to Honiton today for what is our only fixture with them this year, as we only play them once a year, so next year we will be at home to them, and as I was talking with them today this is unlikely to change as they have 39 fixtures a year.

We were entertained very well today, with the course playing well enough, and the food was excellent, with a turkey carvery good roasts, 4 veg + a choice of 6 sweets all with either custard, cream, or ice-cream, unfortunately this is some thing that we can only dream about this year.

Nearest the pin on the 173-yard downhill 12th for the visitors, in fact the only visitor on the green, was won by Ian Griffiths, who won a bottle of wine.

    Results

Barrie Heath/Stuart Pope              Lost 1 Down
John Wandless/ Barry Singleton  Won 3&2
Roger Davis/ Nobby Hodder         Lost 6&4
Ian Griffiths/ Ian Fielder                Won 5&4
Alan Chance/ John Macomish      Lost 3&2
Mark Cording/ John Twose           Won 3&2

                     Match Result       Drew  3 – 3

A draw away from home was a good result, so well played today. Our next match is away to T&P on 2nd Oct, the sheet will be up on Wednesday + the Minehead Inter Club Challenge on the 29th Oct where we will need 16 players, as we have entered 2 teams.

B. Heath  (Captain)

and back to the typing's and wisdom of Sir Peter Spencer Churchill III.....

Modest turn out today in glorious sunshine. There was a team away at Honiton and thus  we had the reduced number of  36 players for the 'two to count' yellow ball comp. Andy Beale 39pts and Roger Hinds 40pts played a rolling stableford. Apologies to Roger who messaged to say he would be slightly late for the roll up but wished to be included. Messages are sometimes not picked up by myself ( slapped wrist ) perhaps a phone call to the bar, if possible, would be more certain of getting through on the day.

Today there was some confusion about the exact format for the yellow ball comp. The roll-up blog referred to the low, medium and higher handicap players scoring on holes 1 to 6  etc whereas the intended format was to be on the stroke indexes 1 to 6 etc. Consequently, to be fair there were two separate comps as shown below with the prize money allocated accordingly but with the birdie money divided amongst the whole field.

Our supply of yellow balls is rapidly depleting, always seems the grotty ones come back, I suppose only the good die young!

SONG ‘WHERE  HAVE ALL THE YELLOW BALLS GONE,

                          LONG TIME PASSING?’

First business of the day was settling Gambling Debts as Martin is delighted to hand Trevor's winnings to JKP for his Scouts Charity....

Roy is pointing to Bob, Norman & Martin who appear to have lost another Fiver on the 4th...…
..this time it's the Five Points for returning the Yellow.....

After a fruitless search in the brambles, the following Team found it 10 yards back in the long grass and in play !!!
