Wednesday 29th August
3 ball Medalford
Cheeky Reminder
Dear All,
Just a reminder
about our Coffee Morning tomorrow Friday 31st August from 10 until 1.00
o'clock at 2 Home Farm, School Lane , Tatworth TA20 2SH (about 50 yards from the Church, bottom of three houses down a gravel drive,
just by a road calmer and opposite a 5 barred gate).
Please leave cars at the Church unless you have a problem
with walking.
All proceeds will go towards helping to raise money for the three Young Scout Leaders
and their Kenya Project.
Hope you can make it and the weather stays fine and warm
so that you can sit in the garden, we have plenty of shade. If wet we will
provide chairs indoors....and some lovely home-made cakes...
John & Diana Pearce
and now.....back to the Golf.....
Big turn out today probably because Monday was a bank holiday.
Forty eight players rolled up for an individual medalford competition. The
weather was kind with just the odd rogue shower but we only had a light breeze.
In Medalford the first nine is medal and the second nine is stableford, the
final score is had by subtracting the stableford score from the medal
score. Bob Barrow won the day with a fine net of 13 points.
Must be Bob's game as last time we played he had 32-20 for a Nett 12.
The full results and winnings are listed below:-
Just a couple of bye the byes,
Ian Housham popped his cherry at the 'Three Counties competition' this week at Cannington with his first Hole in One. This was secured on the 156 yard 7th with an up hill well struck 6 iron. It could have been expensive but despite getting a warm round of applause in the clubhouse everyone present passed on the proffered beverage. Luckily for Ian it was an away fixture and not one at home!!! Well done Ian but today's use of a bright red ball is still O.T.T.
'
Also I have been given a superb golf trophy of a golf figurine, donated by Bob Barrow, on a wooden plinth designed and made by Roger Stone. I am thinking of possibly making it a 'Seniors Club man of the Year' award to be chosen each year by the incumbent Captain but other than making it a prize for an individual golfer I am wide open to suggestions. Most competitions have a dedicated trophy already but if there is a gap in the market or a suggestion for a new golf format please let me know.

Ideally, you would score 36 on the Front 9, after deductions of handicap at each hole where you get shots. Then on the Back 9 score 18 Points. The Stableford Score is subtracted from the Medal Score, thus (36-18) = 18.
So Well done to everyone who made 18 or lower - you Par'd the Course.
Note for Andy Beale - can we try a reverse next time, start with 9 holes of Stableford ?

Match Report vs Minehead 28/08/2018
Today’s
visitors were struggling to get a side together up until Monday, so I thought
they may have a weakened side but that turned out not to be the case, even with
playing on a totally different course to theirs they gave a good account of
themselves, and I heard that they were putting some very good scores together, although
we started with two strong wins it got a bit tight from then on.
Our nearest
the pin on the 9th was won by yours truly, Nick Hill who won the
last two, was not allowed to play this time to give the rest of us a
chance.
One
unbelievable moment was when Andy collected the money from both teams then
found someone had put an old £10 note in, needless to say no one owned up to
that.

Match Result Drew 3 – 3
Well despite
only managing a draw we just managed to keep our home record intact, our next match
is on Friday vs Wheathill away.
Good luck to all the Avalon team ( Thursday) with their last match vs Mendip, although they don’t have to win, enough points scored would see them as Division winners in their first season, where they would then go on to a knockout format against a team from another Division.
