Rollup Report 15th August 2018

3 Ball Stableford – all to count

A very healthy turnout at the rollup today bearing in mind a number of members were playing away today. There were only two teams in the frame with a realistic chance of winning and they were finally separated by 1 shot, the crucial hole being the 17th.

The captain announced at the draw that all cards were to be entered into the computer. Two members, Chris Basterfield and Bert Robinson, did not enter their cards and as a result, the competition could not be closed, as all the teams had been set up on the machine. The scrutineer had no alternative but to enter N/R against their names in order to close the competition. This resulted in an increase of 0.1 against their handicaps. Whilst their objections to entering their scores may be valid, the time to object is when the draw is made and not after the competition.

On a lighter note, the competition today was for 2’s only. Whilst there were 9 birdies, there was only one 2 and this was scored by Paul England with a fine tee shot on the 16th. Paul was asked if he would share the £19.50 with his team mates and was heard to mutter unequivocally “could do”. Although finishing in eleventh place, Paul’s team are today’s highest money winners.

Match Report vs Cannington  14/08/2018
We entertained Cannington at home today, which was played in good golfing weather, our visitors were impressed with the course apart from maybe the 13th, 14th & 15th, as they are not used to any sort of hill with Cannington being so flat.
Did you know that they have a new state-of-the-art Foresight Sports simulator at Cannington Golf Club, the same type that is used on Sky Sports, there’s something for the keen golfers.
Nick Hill won nearest the pin on the 16th for the home team, not sure but I think he was the only one on the green.
   Results
Barrie Heath/ Andy Beale                   Won 5&4
Peter Spencer-F/ John Macomish     Won 1 up
Roger Davis/Nick Hill                            Lost 2&1
George Wallace/ Nobby Hodder        Won 1 up
Roger Stone/ Barry Singleton             Won 3&1
Richard Holmes/ Ian Fielder                Halved

                 Match Result        Won  4 ½  – 1 ½
Well done, as we kept are home record intact, over to you Pete for the home
match on Monday vs Bridport.
Plus good luck to all the team at Enmore (Quantock Stag) on Friday.
B. Heath  (Captain) Lots more going on with several Summer Knockout matches completed.
Gordon was very quiet as the class of Roger Hinds gradually dawned on him and he departed the Comp at last

and in another tight Match Alan Chance finally overhauled Farmer Bob.

as Peter finally exited the Club Comp in the Semi-Final

Heading for 100+ but would it be enough ?
