Avalon League versus Long Sutton

CST Seniors Avalon team inflict first home defeat of the season on rivals Long Sutton.

Title rivals CST and Long Sutton contested the eagerly awaited match to determine the places for the end of season knockouts.

Coming into today's match, Long Sutton had jumped back to the top of the table with an away win at Isle of Wedmore, and victory against CST would have virtually sealed their 3rd League Championship in a row.
As it turned out CST Seniors came out the traps with all guns blazing by winning the first 3 games,
Danny and Nick Clarke continued their strong partnership winning 3 & 1
The new pairing of John Wandless and Ian Griffiths had a comfortable 4 & 3 win, with Ian continuing his recent good form.
Chris Gingell and Mark Cording are maintaining their role as lynchpins of the team winning 4 & 3.
Dave Mugridge and George Wallace come up against stern opposition and went down 3 & 2.


 The final pairing of Roger Hinds and Frank Martin also lost 2 & 1.
The overall match result Long Sutton 2 - CST 3
This gave CST 11 points to Long Sutton's 4, thus leaving both teams on equal points, but with CST beating Long Sutton both home and away,
 CST top of the table once again.
With Long Sutton's games concluded, CST can finish no lower than 2nd in the table and a victory in our final home match against Mendip in 2 weeks time, would secure the League title in our first season.
