SENIORS JUBILEE SALVER COMPETITION
1ST AUGUST 2018
3 BALL TEXAS SCRAMBLE
Sixty three
players turned out today in very pleasant weather conditions for the 2018
Jubilee Salver. This was a three ball Texas Scramble competition where members
selected their own teams.
Last Year we only had 33 as it was postponed once, then played a week later but due to waterlogged ground there were no buggies...
Scoring was yet again very competitive. The group of Danny(4), Rob(9) And Martin Hartley(6) returned a gross score of 61, including 9 birdies, only to finish outside of the top four! What chance us mere mortals.
Eleven two's were also recorded, gone are the days that having a birdie meant a decent monetary return on the day! Some consternation was expressed as the green keepers who held up play by light mowing and rolling the greens in the middle of the competition. I don't know if this can be easily avoided. Perhaps, for cup competitions, we could ask for thought to be given to the work carried out and either delay work that alters playing conditions or indeed start earlier.
Welcome to two new ( low handicap ) members who joined today Andrew Chambers hdc 5 and Martyn Hartley hdc 6 who will strengthen our pool even more.
Congratulations to Roger Davis, Ray Gudge and Ron Sutherland on adding their names to the prestigous Jubilee Salver 2018...that's some score Gents starting 4,2,4,4,3 - 4 Birdies in 5 Holes - Wow !
Monies allocated as follows, Winners £10 each, 2nd £9 each, 3rd £8 each and 4th £4.50 each. Two's were worth £0.95 each per team member.
