Match Report vs Axe Cliff 30/07/2018
Playing at
home today with something odd falling out the sky, I think it’s called rain.
For the
first half at least we played in showery conditions with a good breeze blowing,
it was nice to hit the ball onto the greens and leave a pitch mark and
hopefully stay on the green.
Mike Hill
played his first game for us today, I understand he enjoyed the experience even
though he played with Roger D. (ok I jest) and look forward to seeing his name
on the sheet on a regular basis.
We managed
to get a salad on our menu for todays meal, then when we arrived in wet misty
& cool conditions I managed to change to something warm, but it meant I
wasn’t sure what it was going to be, it turned out to be stuffed chicken,
roasts & red cabbage, I think it’s work in progress with Alex, the chef’s
& myself, but thanks to the Chef for agreeing to change the menu at such
short notice.
Peter (head
of vice) S F won nearest the pin on the 16th, in fact he was the
only home player on the green, so it was my pleasure (Garr) to present him with
the wine.

Whilst the first team were
otherwise engaged in a friendly match against Axe Cliff Seniors, 32 members
played in a 4BBB in conditions not unusual for an English summer, but not seen
in these parts since May. There were intermittent showers, punctuated by a few
short periods of sunshine.
Crucially, Danny Dowell
scored a birdie on the 15th for 4 points which gave him and his
playing partner, Jim MacDonald, a 1
point win over Jeremy Blackburn and John MacOmish.
There were 8 birdies each
paying £2.00 per pair.
