Match Report vs Brean  02/08/2018

We travelled to Brean GC today which is right next door to the Leisure Park,
So for about half the course you can hear the screams from the rides, at least I think it was that & not our team doing their best against some stiff opposition,
their Captain did say that he had his strongest team out today.

We did as usual enjoy the company & we ate in the leisure complex, from once they decided which room we were eating in, we made our way through the holidaymakers, and sat down to a good meal, the food was good & plentiful.

They are about to move into a new building, at a cost of £4 million which will accommodate the golf & bowling clubs as well as acting as a social centre for the area, so we look forward to trying this out in 2020.

Chris Gingell won nearest the pin & was presented with a bottle of wine which we drank on the way home(not), well I can’t put this of any longer, hear are the results.

    Results

Barrie Heath/ Peter Spencer-Farr   Lost 4&3
Chris Gingell/ Martyn Putland         Lost 2&1
Mark Cording/ Ian Griffiths              Lost 3&1
John Twose/ Barry Singleton           Lost 5&3
Roger Davis/ Andy Beale                  Lost 3&2
David Mugridge/ Lyndsey Gage      Lost 2&1

                  Match Result        Lost  6 – 0

I know that a lot of the team played really well but when your having to birdie
nearly every hole to win especially away from home, that is very difficult, we will have our revenge at home next year as we only play them once a year.

Roll-Up Report 4BBB (90%) 03/08/2018
18 early birds & 26 late starters played today in hot, cloudy & humid conditions,
certainly the earlier games moved along very well and I have to say that we had no hold-ups.
Some of the scores were amazing, Frank I think there are a few cards to look at!.
I have to mention one attempt at a birdie two on the 9th, This senior who will be nameless,
(T.S.) hit a good tee shot just to the left of the green and it rolled around just missing the hole by two or three inches, leaving him with a 18” put, he took so long over the put that I think he forgot what he was there for, and yes he missed it, his partner said bad look or words to that effect.
Please note, we are about to order a few more Senior shirts(£32) we have a few names in the pro shop that require one, please add your name to the list, (especially if you are playing for the team) or let Peter S F or myself know & we will add you to the list, the order will go in by the end of next week.
18 birdies today paying out 60p per player.

Await captain's report but we have to forgive him after such an intensive week...and a bruising encounter up at Brean on Thursday where points proved veeeeeery hard to come by....

Some huge scores today as we saw 45 points slipping down the pile as 46,47,49 etc gradually came in. Imagine poor old Brian Marsh carding a 49 with his partner...only for a crazy score of 52 to hit the table...but it certainly was a freakish high-scoring day.
