Match Report vs The Dorset away 09/07/2018

Well what a scorcher to play on this heathland that is not far from the Tank Museum where they are celebrating the Centenary of the Battle of Amiens on 08th August.

Luckily, we were not met with quite such opposition as Tanks, the fairways were as expected very hard and brown but the greens with their sprinkler system were in quite good shape, I did make a comment that some of their greens were so long that they were as long as of our par 3 fairways, so finding the green with an approach shot was necessarily a good shot.

One notice they had reminded you of the dry weather conditions.
No smoking on the course due to the risk of fire.

  Results

Barrie Heath/ Ian Griffiths              Halved
George Wallace/ Mark Cording     Won 2up
Chris Gingell/ Keith Potter              Halved
Roger Stone/ John MacOmish        Lost 5&3
Dave Mugridge/ Andy Beale           Lost 5&3
John Wandless/ Roger Davis          Halved

                Match Result =            Lost 3 1/2 – 2 1/2

Yes we lost, but to only just lose at the Dorset was much better than I expected. We now go Rushmore on Thursday for another hard away match.

B. Heath  (Captain)

In hot and sultry weather at the start of a busy week, just 24 Roll-Up to tangle with the Yellow Ball, although John Evans said "Never Again" as he parted company with his on the 4th..but was not alone as his team in their endeavours found 2 other ..but alas not their own.

Results are as below as presented by Farmer Bob.  He had a dilemma on the 9th hole score for the Winners as Maurice had carded 10 points, with his own Birdie 2 for 4 points, plus Billy's Par for another 6..but failed to put Billy's Gross down at all - so the extra 6 points were deleted...but luckily reducing them from 127 to 121 did not effect them as they were still clear of the field.
An 8-Point swing on the 17th was the decider as Billy Birdied the hole, with the yellow ball AND a Shot for 8 Points , followed in by Des who also made a Three for Three..that's 11 Points !

Just 4 of the 8 Teams managed to return their Yellow Balls.

Winners £4.50 Each, 2nd £3.50 and Birdies were 0.40p per person.
