Friday 6th July 2018
Monthly Medal

42 players turned out today (including 2 NRs) to play off the white tees on yet another hot sunny day, there were 5 nett scores below the day's standard scratch of 69, so as you will see from JPs

list on the blog a few players were cut today, including 3 players who will be at the Dorset on Monday, but I’m sure they can handle that.

Very well done today to Andy Beale (65) & Danny Dowell (64).

Only three 2s today paying out £7 per player.

We passed Lyndsey, having a fit of giggles after witnessing the Super-Seniors Champion lending a glove to the Vice-Captain that had obviously been through a few other campaigns, such as the Battle of the Somme and D-Day …

Minutes later, Lyndsey was less happy as he was chased off the Ladies Tee on the 6th by a Lady Golfer ..angry that Mark & Lyndsey were loitering and blocking her tee shot...but of course when we are playing off White's ( what a strange irony )...then players on the 18th have priority on this shared tee...

Brian declared the Blue-Mac had been forcibly retired and a new one would be making an appearance shortly..but meantime he had to borrow some kit from a neighbour...

John Pearce & Chris Gingell played out their Summer KO Fixture

As Chris finally closed it out on the 18th hole winning 1 Up. Never more than 1 shot in the Match, Chris had enough class to make it count after having to give 8 shots.

A Two on both the 2nd & 16th, plus a birdie on the 12th showed how he was playing.

Chris uses a philosophy that doesn't 'Give 8 Shots' to his opponent - He sees it as 10 Holes that he should win..simple but positive logic.

Nearly expensive on 16th as so close to an ace.

My personal apologies to Mr Whirly - Ronnie Sutherland as I had the temerity to give him a 'Tutt-Tutt' as he replayed his missed birdie putt on 15th.
"You can't Practice on the Course in Stroke-Play" ..but I was wrong as usual.

Rule 7.2 clearly allows him to do so on the hole just played..sorry Ronnie.
Between the play of two holes a player must not make a practice stroke, except that he may practice putting or chipping on or near:

a. the putting green of the hole last played,
b. any practice putting green, or
c. the teeing ground of the next hole to be played in the round,
provided a practice stroke is not made from a hazard and does not unduly delay play
