Match Report vs Vivary Park away 02/06/2018
Well we
arrived at Vivary Park and the carpark relieved us of £6 Per
car, then we each pushed our trolley about 200 yards around to the club house, we then played at 13:00hrs in the heat of the day, but I must say the greens were not rock hard as they have some sprinklers on the course, but you were never quite sure what to expect as some had been watered and were quite soft in places but others were not.

Unfortunately
in the fourth match one of their guys a John Blissitt had to walk in not
feeling well, so we wish him well as he is awaiting tests.

As I have
said before a draw has to be a good result away from home so well done.
I feel I
should apologise to Keith who did his best to make up for my poor play.

Meantime as the early rain cleared the sun shone one more. This neck of the woods got a fair pasting of rain on Sunday Afternoon and through the night - including some nice thunderstorms & lightening - but others just a few miles easy got nothing.
Nice manageable 36 Roll-Up , with 15 Early and 21 Late. Bob White sneaked out with the earlies..but still managed to be drawn nearly last.
..but unfortunately DQ stamp was used on their card as no Gross Scores were recorded in appropriate columns - just an X for the Drive under A,B,C and a number in the Nett/Score Box....Sorry folks, I'm just the reporter...but you keep your 2's Money.
Technically, no Gross scores are recorded under the Player Columns |
We will endeavour to do more to help explain what is acceptable / required for each format as we have so many new members - We may look at adding to the Roll-Up format Page if it is practicable...but all suggestions welcome.

1/6th Handicap, 5 Drives

I had the honour of 3 1/2 Hours with John Chance and Richard Forster - who never stopped the crack the whole way round. John was being very 'proper' and 'Technical' - but always with a smile on his face as Richard bombarded him with questions about health, fitness and his new Knee.
Questions such as 'Do you still have a Knee-Cap ?' - which I thought was very relevant.
John went on to explain how he worked extra hard before his knee-op, which brought a furrowed brow to Richard's sun scorched face ?- why bother 'BEFORE' he asked.
Well if you think about it, explained John very patiently - you have been hobbling around with a knackered knee for Months or Years and the Muscles on that leg are weakened as you favour the other leg. So by working hard to build up muscle, it makes the Physio after the Op much more 'Even'
We then got onto BMI and John's new machine that tells you all sorts of info about muscle density, ideal weight etc - which John then explained had labelled him as 'Athletic'...
It was amusing the whole time as Richard tried so hard to get a reaction, with John being amazingly chilled about the whole thing - he didn't even care where we stood on the Tee.
John hit some great shots and certainly saved us a couple of times.
He also told us about an old friend of the Seniors , Adrian Wells - who has unfortunately suffered another stroke, so we wish him a speedy recovery.
