Friday 29th June
The Challenge Cup Finals

Open Update - just 4 Days away now and we could do with 3 more pairs. Tee is booked solid all day, so it's the only game in town. Just a gentle reminder for raffle Prizes and cakes for the Refreshments stall - you always come up trumps on this one, and we always appreciate it as Captain launches big push for his Clic Sargent Charity. We'll all be up there ( with the Ladies of Course) from about 06:30 to set things up.
130 Players from 14 Different Clubs - our chance to put on a great show.

Was held today Friday 29th June, now don’t hold me to this but 43 seniors played today, 13 in the Final & 24 in the Plate, this included 1 no return of card & 1 NR, these 2 + 1 other were not entered on the computer. Plus 6 played in an Individual  Stableford roll-up.

Pete was there at the crack of dawn sitting at his office on the patio taking money & checking players in, then John Pearce turned up and handed us a box of pencils to hand out plus a professional printout of the final & plate qualifiers.

The golf was quite simple today really, just work out the yardage then knock of about 30 or 40 yards of run, ok not quite that simple.

We have allowed in the entry fee today for engraving etc. which is in the safe hands of Keith. So here are the main results below the full list will be done for the blog after a lie down.

One more thing, a big thankyou to Norman again for organizing the Challenge Cup who this year was backed up by Peter S.F.  Mike Light helped set this up originally but now spends most of his time looking after his wife, we hope to see you soon Mike.

There were 15 birdies paying £1.43 per player.

Loved the way they were outside to greet everyone from the crack of dawn and allocate tee-times before passing to Pro-Shop for entry onto the Computer.
Bob Rees pulled up in his Car and attempted a 'Drive-Through' check in but was ignored...

Nobby has successfully completed his treatment...but most of us are unsure what exactly they have sorted....
Well done to Mr FM for looking after Nobby and getting him to appointments and attending consultations, is there an upper age-limit for adoption ?

All scores were entered on the Club Computer, so it will hopefully count as a Qualifier and necessary handicap changes made.We passed Keith a few times..but he wasn't having his best day - after quite a long run of playing really well.

Barry was in a field of 13 playing for the Cup and blistered the front 9 with 23 Points which sent shock-waves through all the low handicappers..but could he hold on?  ..yes he could with a 19 back 9 so amassed a total of 42 points which should earn him a hefty 3 point reduction in his handicap.
We had to nail Barry's feet to the floor so he would stay for the Photographs...and keep filling his Wine Glass..

The rest of us played in the Plate, with 20-30 entries and it was more competitive in this group with Pearce/Davis/Evans all posting scores of 39 and many 1 shot behind.  But with Pars on 10th, 11th, 13, 14th & 15th - John Pearce posted a back 9 of 22 which separated him from John & Alan - both of whom have sent congratulatory telegrams.

Went to poshest house in West Bay yesterday to pick up picnic table & benches donated to Club from Lord & Lady Bryden
Edmundo is out in Amsterdam on a Cycling Holiday, but hasn't got far as he can't find his bike yet, looking for Bike 27,143 in Row 4 slot 97...
but he did meet Nick Hill who helped him for a while, before boarding his luxury River Boat for next few weeks.
Nick sent a pic from the Serbia / Romania border of a famous statue of a Roman  carved in rock on the Danube
