Friday 20th July
..another busy day
Sidmouth Match & 2 from 3 Stableford
Big turn out today with 15 early
birds and 36 not so early birds for a 2 from 3 to count stableford comp. J. P
was beseeching us to get people out in the gap before the usual 9am kick-off. There is an argument for this should the numbers increase anymore but the
speed of play today was just about acceptable with the three groups going off the
16th. With the ball running even quicker than ever, and with everyone able to
reach the par fours in two, scoring
was very good and the number of birdies impressive. All the high handicappers are literally ' making hay while the sun shines' (Often wondered where that expression came from!)
Winnings distributed as follows, Ist £5.50 ea, 2nd £4.50 ea, 3rd £3.50 ea, 4th £2.50 ea, 5th £1.00 ea.
There were 22 team birdies each paying £0.35 per person.
Thanks yet again to Bob for checking the cards, more entrants means more work....and all those countbacks.
Trying to think of something amusing to finish the report with but it is too hot.

Match Report vs Sidmouth away 20/07/2018
Yes, how
boring another hot sunny day, with the sloping fairways it was a lottery as to
where even a good drive would finish up after rolling across the fairway into
possible trouble.
But as
always we enjoyed the company, and the food was excellent, I did give a mention
at the end to Keith Potter, who was down to play in this match and we all
raised a glass in his memory.
One result
caused a stir, Mike their captain when being told the score of 4th
match assumed that the result was in their favour, but no our pairing did record an unbelievable result away from home.

David
Mugridge won the bottle of wine for nearest the pin on the 4th.

A very good
result at Sidmouth, we won 5 ½-½ at home back in April so overall well done, we did good.
