Friday 13th July
3-Ball Waltz 3,2,1
RESULTS
3-Ball Waltz 3,2,1
An unexpectedly large turnout today
considering the lots of extra matches played during the week. 18 early birds
and 27 later souls fought-out a 3 man team regressive bowmaker. 3 to
count 1st 6, 2 to count 2nd 6 and 1 to count 3rd 6. I personally hate
this format because it takes me at least four holes to get going! Perhaps it's just me? There was a delay at the start because of an early morning mist with
'El Cyd' holding back the tide. A number of teams had already reached the fifth
but had to pause. This quickly cleared and play resumed. We welcomed a new
member today, Richard Holmes, still a current member at Wareham and plays off a
handicap of nineteen. He drew the short straw and played with Nobby and Bill Hilson. Richard promptly
birdied the first (I’ve never done that before) and will prove a serious
combatant. There were an impressive 21 birdies today but special mention must
go to Jeremy Blackburn who eagled the 17th for his birdie, well done!. A query
arose as to whether although on one of the 'only one to count' holes two
players recorded birdies, should they both warrant birdie money. The argument
being that it is a separate competition. Our esteemed captain being extremely
nice said ok but the consensus is that, in future, as only the first ball would
be in play that only that birdie would be eligible.
Winnings were shared £8.00 each for first place, £5 each second and £2.00 each third. Birdies £0.35 per team member.
Reminder, this Monday’s roll up is off as the ladies have a south west rally.

Captains Match Report vs Rushmore 12/07/2018
(away)
Yet again we
travelled to an away match where once again we played in hot sunny conditions apart
from near the end were we had a shower for about 10 to 15 minutes, once again
we played on hard, (we should be getting used to this by now), fairways but
then onto greens that had been well watered.
Unfortunately
we came a distant second but I think it was played in a good spirit, and the
food was excellent, as our home match was cancelled back in April because of
the weather,
we are trying to find a suitable date, but as they have 38 matches it may be difficult.

No other way
to put it, we got stuffed, but those I spoke to said that they enjoyed the
course and would like to play there again.
