Stableford Qualifier

So, a busy start to the day with some 60+ Players registering in the Pro-Shop- and a rather shocked Paul the Pro trying to handle it all after he was all alone  in there. This was compounded by the fact he was using the 'Original' start sheet from a week ago, rather than the updated 'Start-Sheet' on the Club Computer - so as the usual "What are we doing today"  brigade turned up, he wrote their names in the blanks...which had already been filled on the booking system.
Sean later resolved this by promising to 'Destroy' the Start Sheet once names have been typed into the Computer so we can all sing from the same Hymn sheet.
Therefore, apologies to those that were grouped in a 4-ball...and others in 2-balls.

George Willerton out to 20 Handicap, still can't believe it. He was a 'Golfing God' when I first joined playing off single figures and always winning - but 30 years of jumping out of Aircraft and running through Jungles carrying 200lb back-packs has taken its toll.

Pete 3-Names was looking very tired after 3 blanks in first 4 holes and resolved that Seniors would be playing less golf in his year as captain - he wants to restrict it to 6 Days-a-week....
after playing every day with Sat, Sun, Mon (Sherborne), Tues (Match) , Wed Qual etc...

We passed a few early birds and were regaled of such tales as Dave Wargrave struggling with putting. Just hours before he had been with the Pro and changed his Grip of 42 years, along with purchasing a Scotty Cameron XZ27 'Sharpshooter' . Mike King tried to explain the error of his ways by analogising with a Cleaner who had always used a dustpan and brush - being given a new Dyson Air-Ram to 'Tidy up' runway 4 at Heathrow... but I'm not sure if it sank home...

Talking about Air-Brushing - Pete 3-Names was complaining about the Picture of him on the Blog at Sherborne - displaying Man-Boobs. 'Couldn't you have air-brushed it, like in a fashion magazine ? " - he asked...
..before I could apologise, Richard Dines interjected with..."That was the Air-brushed version "-  how cruel !

Well done to all the winners today on a very intensive qualifier on a lovely day.
It's strange looking at all the results and the difference between a Stableford & Medal Qualifier. Out of the 63 Cards do you know how many had full scores - just 7 had a score against every hole. The winners of both Divisions had N/A cards with them both having blank holes.  Bob Rees had a great back 9 scoring 5,4,4,4,X,4,4,4,5 - 21 Points and a blank on 14th !

So what about Friday ?
Roll-Up is dedicated to the First Round of the Summer Knockout.
This Means that any pairs that Roll-Up will have priority to go out after normal 07:45 Draw for 08:10 Tee, then 08:45 Draw for 09:14 Tee,   as they arrive and 'Check-In' upstairs.
They should go out in Pairs, ie a 2-ball to let them battle it out in peace.
After that we will form a Roll-Up with those not in the Summer KO or those with Byes for Round 1.
May I suggest a 2 from 3 Discard for the Remainder.
Discard the Score from a Par 3, Par 4 and Par 5.
Count Holes 10 & 15 as Par 5 to even up the Card.

A list is on the board for Memorial Day on Monday June 4th. It is supposed to be a 'Mixed' event with Div 1 & Div 2 Players combined, but the wording has allowed Teams with 3-players in Div 2 to combine as it says at least 1 player has to be 19+.
It's too late to clarify this now, but that was the intention.
Just put your name on the list and Teams will be formed naturally - or by design if you chose.
It's supposed to be a day of reflection to remember all those that have passed our way and now graze in pastures new - what some great characters we have been blessed with.

Stuart Pope has had a full knee replacement after going under the knife on Monday, not-knowing if it was going to be a 'clean-out' or a replacement. Stupidly , Stuart had been down to the Tip on Sunday with a trailer load of scrap and suffered a large cut on his leg - it took all of his smooth-talking to convince the Surgical team to allow the Operation to go ahead..silly boy !

We've just been told that a large number of 'Seniors-Cards' are now in the Pro Shop for someone to pick up and add to our already heaving Roll-Up box - if you don't now have one it's your fault for not responding to requests made earlier - we can only do so much for you .
