Wednesday 28th March
Easter Minus 3
At 07:31 the Course was CLOSED, then Magically at 07:53 it was Open again, so depending on what time you checked the Computer..I guess that dictated your next move.
Norman was up and re-checked with East Devon - still no Guarantee about being Open, Buggies etc so it was cancelled for Tomorrow Thursday 29th.
Pretty dismal forecast, and about 15 were in the Sports bar, but gradually we lost Richard, Barrie, Ted, Nick, Maurice, Geoff, Robin etc and we had enough for a nice little challenging 4-ball Scramble, 1/20th Handicap and off we went..albeit in the cold rain.
Roger Davis, Mark Sanders, John Sweet & Norman Markby led the way.
..but Norman's Drive was never to be seen again...
The Golf was good with a Par on the 1st and a long putt for Birdy on the tricky 2nd by 'I can't see a thing' - Davis !
Par was followd by Birdy on 4th, but Oh Dear as Bogey/Bogey followed on the 5th and 6th.
But the the fuse was lit as a 3,3,3 finish on 16/17& 18th to Register 34 Gross with 4.8 Shots, so a very challenging 29.2 Target for the 'Dream Team' as they were named..for 1 hole.
We were on all Temporaries and I wonder why ?
Water Everywhere...
OK, we cheated and showed a Sunny Picture on the Front Page, but the Sun did come out for our last 3 holes.
Team B, with Dickie Hall, John Pearce, Chris Hiam ( or Haim as Pete 3-names calls Him), with Roger Hinds.
Unfortunately a 5,3,5,5 start put them 3 behind already and their handicap allowance was a shot less ( Bloody Sweet again).
Par, Par on 5th & 6th put them back to within 1 shot, but a 3,4,3 finish sealed their fate and a final Nett of 32 meant the Money was handed to Norman to pass amongst his Team.
John Sweet was uncontrollable as his 2nd Win in 72 Hours means he get the Freedom of Crewkerne for a Year.
