Due to heavy overnight rain we were limited to 9 holes again and 8 temporary greens - and I think this was the right decision as it was certainly boggy in areas. I drove home last night over Askerswell on the A35 and it was in a snow shower. Mick Aldridge claims to have been snowed on in his garden yesterday.
Great that everyone could play today, including Mick, Keith, Brian etc as just the top 9 in play and weather was delightful. No wind and bright sun.
Tough format today with all scores to count on every hole. Perfect conditions, Ladies Tee on 1st Hole and still 8 people scored Zero and another 10 score 1 point, oops !
I had to smile at a certain players 5 for 3 on the 18th - yes, with handicaps now exceeding 32 people get 2 shots on stroke index 14, so watch out.
Few individual stars out there today with Mike King and Lyndsey Gage scoring 15 points on the first 6 holes, with Billy Hilson and Tony Stenhouse making 10 points on just the back 3 holes. It's tough on the low handicappers on just the back 3, stroke index 12,18 &14 - where they get no shots at all and Philip gets 5 extra before he's hit a ball.
Usual 2 shot & 1 shot cuts for the winners. There were 17 Birdies with £18 in the kitty so paid out 0.30p each, but we were unable to confirm with Keith as he went round for another 9 holes.
We have to be careful that playing 9 again doesn't became the norm as in those conditions we are damaging the course and they may not open it at all if they know we are going round twice.

Professor Higgins
at the University of Sydney was giving a lecture on 'Involuntary Muscle
Contraction' to U3A medical students.
This was not an
exciting subject and the professor decided to lighten up the mood. He
pointed to a Lady in the front row and asked, "Do you know what
your Bum is doing while you're having wild sex with your lover?"
She replied, "Probably
out golfing with the Seniors."
