Medalford– 26th  February 2016

Thirty eight members were present today to play a 4 ball Medalford. That all eighteen holes were available, albeit with two temporary greens, enthused our seniors to return some excellent scores. Had all of Stuart’s birdie attempts dropped, his team would have won but I urge his team members not to be too hard on him.

Welcome to Chris Gingell who joined us today, but School Duty had made him just miss the Draw. Talking about the Draw, the February raffle saw No.12 win Billy Hilson a magnificent bottle of real Champagne, followed by Danny becoming the owner of a huge box of Chocolates as No.20 rolled in. Well done to Richard Hall for raising another healthy sum for the Captain's Charity and thanks for the continued support.

Ian Fielder did his utmost to kill the captain when the ball struck the captain’s trolley destroying the scorecard cover and then flew over his head.

I understand that Phil Hunt is now offering a personal "warming service"  for your outdoor clothing before you go outside – see Barrie Heath for details.

Frank Martin and Alan Davis had another sterling round and were ably supported by Robin Flower and Phil Hunt.

The winners will be cut 2 shots and the runners up will be cut 1 shot.

Thanks to Farmer Bob for extra work in Adjudication as the usual 'uncertainty' arose with this format, but most sensibly recorded accurate Gross Scores.

Two members played in the Rolling Stableford, Alan Chance scored 32 points, whilst Paul England scored 33 points. However, this was not quite enough to overhaul Alan Davis who wins this month’s competition with 36 points followed by Mike Hone with 35 points. Alan wins £12.00 and Mike £9.00.

At the draw today, the Captain was placed in an invidious position when he announced that two members would have to play the Monthly Rolling Stableford. The first two names drawn refused to play. Not wishing to enter into a discussion when everyone was waiting to get on the course, two further names were drawn. These two very graciously agreed to play in the RS. This situation will not be allowed to occur again. Those drawn to play in the RS will have the option to either play or drop out of the draw. However, the ruling that no one will have to play more than once each month in the RS will still apply.
