Wow - we arrived 30 m ins early at 19:30 and could barely get through the door or past the queue for the Curry ! - must have missed the memo that said get up there early. Luckily the ever vigilant Tess was on had to find us an excellent seat...except that it was a tad too close to a certain very noisy team where the decibels were inexorably linked to Los Reserva !
Lots of Seniors on show, with their Ladies of course including the rare appearance of Mrs Lilly Hilson which vastly improved the chances of the team pictured...
Right I'm in charge so pay attention, ignore the young lady in the corner please...Poor old Simon the Barman ran the show and had the nightmare of his sound system failing so had continually repeat the questions in the North, South ,East & West and take tons of abuse but managed to keep things on track...just.
Steve Hill set the tone for the evening as he was surrounded by Ladies and his Team name was a little risqué ! - Steve's Bit***s - see sheet below, Team 12.
Winning Team had 57 - but slightly skewed by Picture Round where 20 plus of the points were scored.
Being old was a distinct advantage as one question was -
What Matchbox Toy sold over 1,000,000 models in 1953 - and had plenty of Horsepower ?
Which was of course the Coronation Coach.
Nick Hill & Co look to have come 2nd or 3rd with 53, our Team Old but Gold had 50 and Hilson's Boneheads had 45. Lowest was about 30.
Not sure who the Winners were, but from the noise it was close to the Area that Brian & Siri were sitting...could it be them.
Great Night for the Club which I think will only get better once they sort out the sound system, great selection of curries, although rice was a big lump of stodge by the time we got there, but I think the numbers attending caught them out a little and we'll be sure to book a table next time.Captain Nick, of Course, had a Reserved Table right in the Middle !!!!!
