3 Man Stableford – 24th February 2016
A good opportunity for our
Handicap Secretary to scrutinise individual scores and there are a few which
will be of interest to him. Despite their claims of not playing to their true
potential, the clear winners by 7 points were Roger (well he always wins)
Stone, Bill (I hardly ever win) Hilson and Robin (I’m just back from my
holiday) Flower. Today's dream teams clearly concentrated on birdies. There were
11 birdies worth £1.50 per team.
Day started really cold as main picture shows, but quickly warmed up as the day progressed. First greeting was the re-arranged Sports Bar furniture which Bill Hilson was determined to get changed and everyone nervously awaited the arrival of Bim..as his favourite chair had been moved. Teams for Thursday Night Curry are building well, with Nick Hill & the Captains Dream team, closely followed by Bim, Helen, Billy & Big Bertha and two others I've forgot. Then Robin & Sylvia have joined JKP & Diana with Alan & Rosemary - plus the Branchflower mafia and Pete Spencer-Farr with Jan, so it's going to be a busy night.
Nobby & Barry were back from Celtic Manor where they posed as Aerospace Engineers until they spotted Danny & Ruth 300 yards ahead on the fairway they should have been playing. Nobby came back full of great ideas about looking after the course.
Greenskeepers were still busy on the new pathways which are looking really swell..and new path is already in use as they prepare to turf over the old one. Congratulations to Colin (the builder/handyman) who has now become a full time Greenskeeper. Next week promises MASSIVE DISRUPTION as they are finally arriving to re-surface the Car Parks, both front & back which will be a massive boost to the look of the Club.
Thanks to Farmer Bob who had a pretty big task today checking all those Individual scores and was trying hard to deduct points from 1 team who were found to have been 'Drinking & Driving' by slurping Cherry Snaps from a Hip-Flask to keep away the morning chills.
