Winter League Round 2.
Despite
a dull start to the day it remained mainly fine for most of the round. The
early starters got the best of the weather; the latter group just getting a
little damp over the last few holes. The course was in great condition after a
fine weekend although many of the greens were a little slow.
Mick Aldridge, Keith Potter etc were actually allowed out on their buggies today, but just around the West Course.
The
greens today were being sprayed against fusarium, a fungal problem that leaves
small bare patches and if left untreated, spreads over a large area quite
quickly. As a result, most people found a blue stain on their hands that proves
a little difficult to remove.
Star
of the day was Brian Marsh who was without his partner and scored an excellent
38 points with most of the scores in the mid 30’s.
Winter League Table is in the appropriate Section, showing Roger Stone and John MacOmish retaining top spot and Bob and Rod clawing their way into second, but remember, the lowest 2 scores can be discarded and slow starters often rise rapidly up the table, so don't despair just yet.
The
first three places went to:-
1st
Nick George/Brian Anderson 39
2nd
Brian Marsh 38
3rd
Roger Stone/John MacOmish 38
The
individual Stableford was won by David Walgrove with 32points (£3) John Wandless
had the birdie( £1.50).
