Many congratulations to Maurice Arnold who is this years
Wing Commander and commiserations to Iain Rowland who is the Rear Gunner. Many
of our number encountered a good deal of flak over distant parts of the course
and bomb craters caused a some turbulence on the score cards. If Geoff Dean is
to become flying officer Kite, that moustache will have to be a lot bushier.
Last year’s winner, Flying Officer Dobson bailed out of
contention on the fourth and fifth and had a bumpy landing on the home run.
He’ll have to hand over the flying helmet to Maurice for next year’s
competition.

You’ll forgive me for not repeating them in full but today we had fifty entries
raising £100 for the RAF Association to which the Seniors add an additional
£25.
There was a separate “2”s competition. There were three
winners, David Walgrove, Sid Crisp and Mike Light (who chipped in from the back
of the 13th). Each “2” pays £8.00. Chris Basterfield also scored a
2, which was an Eagle on the 11th.

Can I make the following appeal. When you enter a
competition, your name is entered into the computer and at the end of your
round, you must enter your score. Sometimes, the computer is down, but more
often, members are disheartened by their score, and tear up their card,
expecting that it will be recorded as n/r. This is not the case. The reason,
today’s results and report are late is because 8 members either failed to enter
their score into the computer or merely tore up their card. Please enter your
score or make sure that you give it to someone else to enter it for you. It
will save the scrutineers a a great deal of time. Please remember this for
Friday’s Medal.
