SENIORS AVALON LEAGUE S3 CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to Dave Mugridge and the Avalon Seniors for winning S3 league and advancing to the finals. Oake Manor could only beat Wells 4-1 thus ensuring CST, with 7 wins out of 7, and with one remaining fixture, can’t be overtaken, and are League Champions 👋👋👋
From Vice Captain Andy:-
Gentlemen
Looking forward to next years Captains away day, I would
like to ask the Seniors for their input on the following:-
1. What is the maximum distance / time you are prepared to
travel.
2. Golf courses you would like to play.
3. The make up of the day (coffee/bacon roll, golf,1 course
meal. OR Full English breakfast, golf, prize giving. OR a combination)
4. Maximum cost (next year most venues will be approx. £50)

Seniors Championship
Martyn tried again today, but a bogey on the 18th left him 1 behind as this rivalry is set to run for a few years yet.
This player was challenged to admit his experience on the 13th Hole 13 - 3 Rescue sliced right into brambles.
- Penalty
- Driver hooked left into field
- Penalty
- Whoosh but no contact
- Driver skied into tree on left
- penalty
- 3 Rescue onto fairway
- wedge went right
- 5 iron to green under tree
- missed 1st putt
- sank putt
Maybe it was only a 12 after all ...RESULT !!!
Wednesday 2nd August 2023Richard Forster won the July Monthly draw (£30)
Well we tried and finally gave up after 7 holes as drizzle relentless and greens piddling up. Alan, Terry, JKP with Rob saw Bert, Frankie and Martin turn right on the 8th to head fir home so we followed them in . Frank bought Coffees for all his mates, so I just bought my own !
Mark and Neil of the Early 5 played Individual as Dennis, David & Mark played the Scramble, so we're the first to complete 18 holes and got a round of applause as they came upstairs. Out of sight and the only humans left out there were James, Paul and Dave Mugridge. ...so I guess they will be the only ones to challenge Early score of 60.
Also out on the course was a Fearsome Foursome where Jeremy and Norman locked horns with the tricky Ian Hildred and Chris Gingell. ..to progress to Final of the Summer Knockout. The winners will meet winners of the other Semi, where Terry & his Ringer Pro will meet Serial winners Brent & Southgate....which will be close to call....
Match ebbed and flowed throughout - great contest despite
the weather .. Chris and Ian dormie 2 down Chris sunk a 12 foot putt to win
17th hole and take us down to 18th - Norm and JB prevailed winning by 1 hole
..probably all wasted as Norman never reads the Blog.... |
I'm too busy.... |
Thank You Seniors, CheersActual
figure now £1260. Possibly a couple more pledges to come.
..another £50 added today from an anonymous Portuguese Golfer... I’d
like to thank Clive Fisk for his persuasive fundraising and everyone that’s
kindly donated.
I actually managed 400 holes, playing 36 on Monday and
finished with a birdie on 18.
Note from Alex Hill, General Manager - please note that in his other hand, Member 1260 is holding his membership card so that he received full Club Discount on his beer and his identity was confirmed by the Bar Staff from the ID Picture held on our systems.
Who won the Dinner for 2 at River Cottage ? - why Ian Fielder, who promptly donated the cash voucher back to the MND appeal - Thanks Ian - we miss you up here.
