[27/03, 09:04] Bryan FROST: Being a Yorkshireman I normally don't accrue many friends, but Nobby broke down my barriers and we spent many happy hours together sorting out the problems of the World.

It is with sadness that we hear of Nobby’s passing. He had a fall at home which resulted in a broken hip, and although the operation to mend the hip was successful, Nobby was not strong enough to survive the procedure, and sadly passed away a couple of hours later. Information regarding his funeral will be posted as and when details are forthcoming.”

Beautiful sunshine and cherry blossom greeted contestants in today's Foursomes Trophy as farmer Bob approaches the 5th Green

many had stayed away, believing the forecast of heavy rain showers as we gloated in the glorious weather.....

Early starters Peter & Martyn avoided the weather and were sitting pretty with a 40-point score on the Computer and a valuable '2'. They were not taking anything for granted as many of the low-handicappers were still out on the course.

Until Peter glanced out of the window to see 1cm hail stones bouncing off the balcony tables and a rather soggy Sweetie crossing the Patio....

..and the 18th Green disappearing under puddles....

Friendly Match CST v Bridport

A wet and windy day greeted our match visitors from Bridport for our opening friendly of the year, but the weather did not deter both teams from enjoying competitive golf and a hearty meal afterwards.

The Captain led from the front and with an in-form Neil Cochran, ran out comfortable 6&5 winners.

Roger Williams and Chris Gingell were unfortunately the only losing pair, going down on the 18th hole.

Dennis Hussey and Mark Cording coasted to a 4&3 victory, as did Jim Lauchlan and Keith Hunt.

Vice captain Andy Rowland and Pete Spencer-Farr had an enjoyable 3&2 victory, while Roger Hinds and Derek Gardener had a close match eventually winning 1 up. Roger Hinds also won the bottle of wine for the NTP on 13th.

Match Result      CST 5 - 1 Bridport

Team for the next match at Wheathill is on the notice board and on the blog Inter Club Matches page.

Also the entry sheet is on the notice board for the next home match on 11th April against Sidmouth, please   support your Match Captain for the day, Barrie Heath.
