Fog Policy
In the presence of fog, the Golf Team and Courses Manager will monitor designated markers at a 200-yard distance across the site. If visibility is below this, the golf courses will be CLOSED. Members and Visitors will be informed on arrival and be asked to wait until the course reopens.
When the course reopens the Golf Team will restart tee times in booking order as quickly and as safely as possible.
WHEN PLAY BEGINS FOLLOWING A FOGGY START TO THE DAY THE MAXIMUM DELAY WILL BE 60 MINUTES. ANY TEE TIME THAT IS MORE THAN 60 MINUTES PAST WILL BE DEEMED TO BE LOST FOR THE DAY.
For example, if golf restarts at 10am, the first group to tee off will be the group originally booked at 9.00am. Players will then follow in the order of the original tee sheet.
It is important to remember your responsibility as golfer, should a bank of fog roll in whilst playing, you should not take your next shot until it is safe to do so.
As a general rule when conditions are foggy, please follow the instructions below:
IN FOGGY CONDITIONS, GOLFERS MUST NOT PLAY IF THEY CANNOT SEE WHERE THEIR SHOTS WILL FINISH, IRRESPECTIVE OF WHETHER OR NOT THE COURSE IS CLOSED
THE COURSE WILL BE CLOSED IF IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SEE 200 YARDS FROM THE 1ST TEE.
GOLFERS MUST NOT COMMENCE THEIR ROUND IF THIS IS THE CASE.
SHOULD GOLFERS BE ALREADY ON THE COURSE WHEN THE FOG DESCENDS, THEY SHOULD PAUSE PLAY AND WAIT UNTIL IT IS SAFE TO DO SO BEFORE CONTINUING.

Wow- that's some score from Ian & Andy -
..but what a beautiful day greeted us with no real sign of any wetness. Early Jackets & Jumpers were gradually reduced and even a few shorts were still on display.
The view up the First, now dead straight, shows a far-reaching panorama - although today the distant hills were a little hazy.
We stare across the levels twixt the Quantocks & the Mendips towards Weston and the 2 Islands we can often see in the Bristol Channel. At times Wales is within our view. With more imagination, the line passes The Isle of Man, misses Ireland and falls on Iceland next. We can easily see The Glastonbury Tor to our right..a view Ancient Chardonians have gazed upon for over 1000 Years - even before Chris Basterfield's time...
We have a vista of Monmouth's efforts in 1685 when he traversed our neighborhood. Landed in Lyme with his Army- He had a short delay in Axminster where they battled the local Militia headed by General Evans and his evil henchmen Hilson and was sheltered by The Barrows who paid for this allegiance when later hung by Cromwell. Swiftly to Chard where he was greeted as a conquering hero by Squire Fielder and Baron Von-Sweet. A Lavish banquet was laid on by The Honorable Hone - but he arrived late and missed it all. Overnight in Langport for repairs at the stables of Citizen Trott, then later Crowned in Taunton in a faux ceremony. More battles right in our view from the 1st - until his final defeat in Sedgemoor - where he was later beheaded. The infamous Judge Jeffreys then systematically worked through all those that had sided with Monmouth during the bloody 35 days of 1685 - as Golfers on Windwhistle Hill had nothing more to think about but " be it twos today my worthy friend or be it birdies ?"
many thanks to Nobby Hodder for verifying the factual elements of this feature.
