Wednesday 20th June
Super Seniors Championship

40 Down at East Devon Today in Challenge Cup..first picture from Norman showing Mo with a Jumper on !

Today was a keenly contested Super Seniors’ Cup sporting a total of nineteen entrants. Despite the course hardening and the greens running quicker than ever, making putting tricky, there were many good scores. There were a number of 'what might have been stories'. Ted Bryden scored 34pts on the first fourteen holes only to blob the last four. Bert Robinson stormed home with two twos on the back nine ( 13th and 16th) only to fall just short of winning. Bryan frost feeling apologetic for missing yesterday’s match against Fosseway, got off to a terrible start only scoring 4pts on the first five holes but recovered to score 23pts on the back to finish second by one. The old adage 'slow and steady wins the race' must apply to the winner. Mick Aldridge with 39 points takes the day. Keep the ball on the island and use your shots!
Well done mick.

SENIORS ROLL UP- WEDNESDAY 20TH JUNE 2018
3 MAN TEAM IRISH WALTZ- 3, 2, 1. YELLOW TEES

Fifteen Seniors not involved in the Super Seniors Cup rolled up and played a 3 man team Irish waltz. 3-2-1. The only team going out early got off to a magnificent start scoring an unbeatable 90 points. All three players of Mick Hill, Mark Sanders and George Wallace made solid contributions but George Wallace must get a special mention with two birdies and an Eagle two on the eighth, that’s a rare bird these days!
Eagled-eyed Trevor was back with the correct glasses, but the Team were hiding in the Clubhouse as their 57 Score was at the bottom of the heap today.  Dickie Hall  was so distracted he left his Raffle Money on the Table , but we put it in the Seniors Filing Cabinet for you, minus a couple of Pinot Grigios !

Match Report vs Fosseway at home 19/06/2018

We entertained Fosseway on a good day to be playing golf, weather wise it was near perfect, and with the course still looking good, Fosseway said they thoroughly enjoyed their day, well perhaps not the result bit, in fact their captain Gerry said when doing his speech that the chicken pie was the best he’d had, I took great pleasure in letting the chief here about the positive comments from both sides.

We had an interesting start to the day with about 20 minutes to the first tee time, I tried to ring Bryan Frost to see if he was on his way but could get no answer, he didn’t turn up so we were one down, I then rang Barry S to see where he was and he said he was nearly there but unfortunately he was nearly at Fosseway and not CST, he did make it though in time to go out last.

All I can say is that yes it was originally meant to be at Fosseway but when I put the sheet up  it did say in bold type that it was at home plus when the team sheet went up it said at home, and Bryan was up playing on Monday, please check the notice board I know there is a lot on it that’s why I have to read it every time I go up to the club to take it all in, by the way thank-you to Dave Mugridge who stepped in to play with Roger from about the 5th, and well done to Roger for staying with his two opponents when on his own.

Barrie Heath/ Alan Davis                  Won 5&4
John Twose/Nick Gabb                     Won 6&5

Roger Davis/ Barry Singleton           Won 6&4

                Match Result                     Won 5 - 1
