Summer KO & 2 from 3 Roll Up

A note for the blog please.

Sue Kirby has asked if a few seniors could help out on Thursday 21st, as I’ve told Sue it unfortunately now falls on our visit to East Devon but anyone not going could offer to help it would be much appreciated  as they do such a good job on our opens & charity day.

Any volunteers please get it touch with me & I will them speak to Sue and organize it.

 Thanks Barrie

Lots of Updates being done to Summer KO, Interclub Matches, The Open, Internal Comps ..so please check them all out...

                  Roll-Up Report 18/06/2018
 2 from 3 Stableford

I didn’t play today so maybe someone else should have done this report, 30 seniors played  today in the roll-up, 9 early birds & 21 late starters in good golfing conditions, we have the advantage of the ball running a lot further but then where do you land the ball to keep it on the green.

Two played in the rolling stableford today Vic Gane NR & Keith Branchflower 26pts

Rolling Stableford= Bob Barrow 31pts (from last week)

In Bryan Frost's own words, " I was so good I scored 37 Points on my own" -  and was immediately head-hunted by Terry Hackling to partner him in the Open and became 17/ 2 in the betting.
..and we now know they were the winning Team with 82

As promised , Summer Knockout Round 1 had priority and the earlies saw Brian Marsh Waltz into Round 2 as Rod Young is Injured. Andy Beale had to work a little harder to defeat Gordon Bareham to snatch a 6&4 Victory.

Just 1 Match for the Late Boys as Norman appeared to take on the elusive Toss Smith...but it was Toscanini who was singing loudly on the 14th as he sealed his victory by 5 &4.

Toss in the Buggy...smiling !

Bryan Frost also got a Bye as Malcom Roy has had to scratch.
Danny has got a bye as David Walgrove is Injured ( also not playing in Open)
Mike Mosser is moving house / never entered, so Maurice also has a Bye.

Round 1 now Complete.

See Summer KO Page for Full Status.

So back to the Roll-Up which Peter 3-Names was running - and got loud cheers as he announced the Committee was going out first to enable  a meeting at 13:30.

Poor old Farmer Bob was stuck with Mr Pearce again and witness  at least 6 Balls being lost..Ooops,

He found 1 ball under a bush on the 14th.

Stuart was up for the Committee Meeting.

many of our Seniors took part in the Club Captain's Day on Saturday & attended the Disco.

Right I think I’ve just about recovered from yesterday, over to daughters for lunch + drinks not driving for a change, then after I’d spoke to Alan Davis re the Open Shaun came round, more drinks I never could hold my drink.

“Glynn’s day was a success considering the weather in the morning, unfortunately Alan Chance, Bob Barrow & I played through the worst of it, it was steady rain mist & wind up until about the 15th + the round took 4 1/2hrs.

We played a Individual Stableford and you could purchase a length of string which you used on the green if you had say a 6” putt left you cut off that amount of string to save a shot, you could also purchase 2 balloons to be used for mulligans, there was a halfway house with cakes & squash and were you could purchase more balloons, although we had had enough of balloons rapping round our club’s in the strong wind by then.

In the evening I went to the Dinner and disco which was held in the marque, we had a free drink as we went in and Glynn greeted us all, it was very informal and relaxed I think there were 13 tables with about 10 per table so a good crowd enjoyed the food which I must say I found to a good standard considering the amount of people there.

As you will see the seniors had 19 entries although about half do not play with us, so well done to Bob Barrow for coming second with 38pts playing in the worst of the conditions, I marked his card but sorry guys we couldn’t find anything wrong with it.

I understand Glynn raised about £1000 for his charity Arthritis Research UK, so well done to all for supporting him, and I must thank Bob & Alan for playing & supporting me on the day”.
