SENIORS 3 BALL STABLEFORD (ALL TO COUNT)
4th May 2018
"Teams were away today and with a few regulars resting up following yesterday's very successful over 65 Charity Day,  numbers were not so many as might be expected considering the nice weather.

George Wallace reports on the Somerset Bowl Match.

Sadly Weston prevailed 3-2 today despite our sterling efforts.

Match Report

SOMERSET BOWL MATCH VS WESTON-SUPER-MARE

We had a closely fought match at Long Sutton in some fine and warm weather, with the course in good condition, other than some lumpy surfaces on some of the greens. Weston fielded a very strong team and prevailed to win 3-2.

Results:

Danny Dowell and Rod Stevens         Lost 3 & 2

Bob Barrow and Dave Mugridge        Won 4 & 3

Nick Clarke and James Siabi              Lost 2 down

John Wandless and George Wallace  Won 3 & 2

John Twose and Mark Cording           Lost 3 & 2

My thanks to all in our team for a great effort. There’s always next year…..

George.

..and back to the Vice-Captain's Roll-Up Report...

18 Early birds and 27 not so Early birds competed in
the 'all to count' 3 Ball Stableford. The greens are still a bit woolly and will benefit from a finer cut but in general the course is improving weekly. Still not many golf shorts on show but between the clouds the sun is desperate to do its job.

Today's scoring in general was average with a few notable exceptions. Terry Hackling came out of hibernation to record the best score of the day with a magnificent 44 points. There were nine birdies paying £0.80 each team member. Three team prizes were allocated 1st £6.00 each,2nd £5.00 each and 3rd £4.00 each.

I believe one early player did a rolling Stableford however although we had £1.50 extra in the kitty we did not have a name or card returned. Does anyone know who the phantom person was or is it a case of an NR?
