Friday March 4th - March Hare Competition
As it says on the front page, conditions were terrible today and a struggle for everyone....
...and that was just the Car Park . Rear completely blocked off due to new Kerbs settling down, overflow in field blocked with hard core and machines operating in main part made finding a spot really tricky..but we did warn you !

Looks like the start sheet was followed pretty accurately and starting seemed to be spot on time so well done.
Some modest scores early on, but they gradually improved as the 37 from Gordon & Mike contained the first '2' of the Day to earn them £4 each. They were passed by Andy & Brian on 39 and Fred with Paul Mathews made 41 - but all were cast aside by a very cool 45 from King MacOmish who held the lead for a long, long time. Tim Purrett and Mike Everton joined us for the first time and beat Par with a creditable 38.
24 Formed the Early Group and 28 the late Group so it was all pretty even.
Poor old Barrie Heath start his round all alone as there was no sign 'not again' of Robin. Mick Aldridge took the place of Mike Light who unfortunately is out again awaiting the removal of his Gall Bladder. Great to see George Willerton up there playing with Old Vic who notched up a 4-pointer on the 4th.
Wherever we went it was hard to miss all the work, as Deano is stripping off the old brown plastic cladding .
Frost & Hodder obviously had a row of some sort as they scored 1,1,0,1,1,1 on 8th through 13th to post one of the lowest scores, but I forgot I wasn't supposed to mention it, sorry.
Dream Teams came and went, as Danny & Chris got off to a bad start. We saw Danny go way past corner on 1st..but score card shows it was Chris that nipped in for a single point with an underwhelming 7 - I wonder what happened ?
Roger & Farmer Bob - steady but no fireworks, same with Superstars Forster & Arnold who seem to creep up on us every year, barely got started.
So for a while, Robin and Barrie had matched King MacOmish on 45 - but did they throw it away by Robin missing the first 3 holes ? - Robin had 2 shots on 3rd but was too late to tee off and they missed winning the first silverware of the season by just 1 point
It was the penultimate team that did exactly as Mr Hilson had predicted, go out and score 46 - which they did. They were some way off the lead after 9 holes - in 12th Position, but a blistering 26 points on the back 9 blew everone away, truly a match made in heaven !
No Money or Cuts for winning today as Entry Fee covers purchase of Silverware and engraving, but those that made a '2' did pretty well with £4.10p each player.
Mike B & Mike D; Steve & Peter Holt-Spencer-Farr; Gordon & Mike M.
Looks like road to rear will be tarmac up to curved kerb by Marquee entrance door to allow bride to sweep in and keep off the gravel in those £2,000 Gucci shoes ! (no not Billy's ones).
Many thanks to Farmer Bob for trying so hard to DQ Billy, but Rod had done it perfectly for them.
Apologies to Malcom for 7 Cards not being on Computer, which is being completed manually and we'll have the full results shortly.
The Captain, who was dashing off to see Ted Bryden asked, nay commanded that I add the following:-
The Captain asks all users of ride on buggies do not go ahead of the play. It is not only potentially dangerous but discourteous to your playing partners".
Recent weather has cleared one of the trees we all love on r/h side of the 5th Hole.
Full Results.
