Four Seasons – 2nd March 2016
On a day made only for the
hardiest, 25 members turned up to battle the elements. Most lasted three or
four holes, but those who showed the most fortitude were Tony Stenhouse, Gordon
Bareham and Mike Mosser who lasted nine holes before admitting defeat beaten by
the wind, rain, sleet and snow. After defrosting in the clubhouse, most left in
glorious sunshine although the wind continued to blow a gale.
Our scrutineer had a field
day and disqualified everyone.
At the prompting of our chief
photographer, John Pearce, the Captain held an impromptu raffle for all those
who played today. The tickets co-incidentally cost £1.50. The first prize (a
bottle of wine) was won by Richard Hall and second prize (a chocolate reindeer)
was won by Bert Robinson who will eat when his jaw unfreezes !
Parking was Tricky today as work is steaming full ahead with 3 separate teams on different projects. Tuesday showed the Car Park Team after clearing hedges have been laying about 300 Metres of Kerb stones to delineate the road.
Whilst Club Staff have continued with Jackie's 'Wedding Park' as fence creeps around the left..but dangerously close to that swinging digger arm...
Whilst round the side Deano has commence cladding all the parts of the building that can be seen from the road...
and even Liam is getting all new Windows down the left side that overlooks the grass area. This is solid wood Cedar Cladding which will make us look like a proper 'Country House'.
Would everyone who has
entered the Captain's Charity Greensomes on the 18th March, please
check their pairings. The pairs for this event must consist of a high
handicapper (19 and above)) and a low handicapper (18 or less) . Several pairings do not meet this criterion.
Further to my last report
regarding the Masters series to be played from 7th to 10th
April, the entry fee for the mixed Sunday event is £2.00 per person. Prizes are
£180 to be shared by the team coming first, £120 for 2nd place and
£60 for 3rd place.
If you have been looking for the 'Opens Folder' that contains all the Seniors Invitations- it is now being held in Pro Shop and under the control of Alan Chance.
Good to see George Willerton up the Club on Monday, starting to improve his new knee and threatens to be back taking your money shortly.
