Easter Monday - The Lord's revenge...

Obviously not enough of you went to Church on Sunday ( Diana did and got caught in a Hail Storm )- so the Lord sent down his vengeance last night to block most of the roads to Cricket.
Barrie Heath arrived late after a big detour, as did Bryan Frost after A30 was blocked at Roundham's with Tree and big flood. Farmer Bob's first delay was on road from Colyford where they were letting cars through one by one as they removed branches from his first tree...then he made it through Devon to Somerset &  Tatworth only to be blocked nearby Norman's House as road was completely closed by another tree, where Police had simply put tape across the road & left no warning...it was still blocked 4 hours later as we returned home...so Bob had to go back through Chard to make it , but luckily Marg had phoned ahead.

Roger was organising things as the Sun shone and the wind dropped and it was actually very nice on the 9-holes that were open to us, Trolleys were OK but no Buggies.

We started with 6, then 7 , then 8 so did the draw with 2 4-balls, then Barrie limped in so we spilt the three Low H/C and made 3-balls playing 2 from 3.

Roger STONE had Bryan Frost and Brian Hodder.
Bob BARROW had Nobby & JKP
Barrie HEATH had John Wandless and "Mr 3-Points" Dickie hall.

Graph below tells the 'Hole Story' - what a play on words !

Steady start by Barrow & Heath, with 4 points but disaster for Barrow on 2nd with only Nobby scoring 2 and Stone in blue making 6 points to join the leaders. Barrow stayed behind until the 5th hole when he overtook Stone who managed a measly 2 points ! Heath maintained the lead until the 8th hole, (which was of course 17th as we just played top 9) - and Barrow grabbed the joint lead approaching the last hole. Both Teams made 2 Par's - but Heath had a shot to sneak the win by a single point in this 'Winner Take All' competition.

The Course had suffered a mighty hammering and water was standing in places we'd never seen before. Have you ever seen cross ditch on 3rd hole full of water ?- looked like a moat.

Trees and bits of trees down all over the place. Huge one down on left of 6th.

and more spilt Firs on right of 5th.

Back in Bar by 11:00 and full of (3) Taunton & Pickerage Members, with their Ladies & all signing up to join us !

Enmore Course is currently closed, so don't be surprised if you get a call for tomorrow's match. We'll  also update the Blog as soon as we hear any news.

Nobby was sporting a new glove as his compensation for the 'Trouser Incident' - which is now closed.

Nice little stroll in the Sun & thanks to Roger & Bob for organising.
