Winter League Round 5 – 22nd February 2016
The fifth round of the Winter
League was played today and the results are published on the web site.
Conditions were uncomfortable at the start of the round and improved to grim by
mid day.
However, many partnerships
made light of the conditions and returned some very respectable scores, most
notably Frank Martin (playing on his own in the absence of his partner) who
scored 39 points – should be in line for a cut.
Two members played in the
Rolling Stableford. Mike Hone scored 35 points and is the current leader, and
Mike Mosser scored 24 points.
Robin Flower was back with us from sunny Barbados and of course Sandy Lane and never put a foot wrong... due to the fact he forgot his shoes, so the Flower/Leigh partnership never got started. Even posher was missing Nobby Hodder who was over at Celtic Manor with Barry Singleton for the day. Another posh character was Colin Ireland resplendent in his new set of wet-weather gear, despite the fact we never saw a drop all day. Thanks to MH for the picture.
I would like to draw your
attention to a few issues :
1.
I have put up
lists on the notice board for the first three matches to be played in March
against Bridport, Enmore
Park , and Axe Cliff. It
is my intention to put up lists four weeks in advance of the fixture and
announce the team one week in advance of the match.
2.
You will notice
that some fixtures on the normal rollup lists both on the web and on the notice
board have a grey background. You will be expected to input your scores into
the computer on these days. Some are normal qualifiers and some are not
officially qualifiers, such as an “all 3 to score Stableford”. This will give
our handicap secretary more information on which to base your handicap.
3.
Some members have
asked whether they can use ride on buggies only on the top 9 holes. I have
asked on your behalf but the request has been turned down.
