Weather forecast improved from earlier in the week to 'only slightly miserable' - which was a nice surprise.18 Holes Open and just 2 Temps, 15 & 17.
Nobby came striding in like an old man, can't think what's happened to him !
Captain Roger was firmly in control and welcomed new member Rod Stevens who lives in Chard but is currently also a member at Taunton. Another very useful low handicapper and when drawn out with Des Denning and Bob White, we guessed we were in trouble.
We had 1 extra, so Roger picked a name at random, but drew Colin Ireland who played his 'exempt' card. Cards were shuffled and re-drawn..and it was Colin again. The Third attempt produced Dickie Hall who then proceeded to storm the course with a stunning 43 points, which off Handicap of 23 gave him a nett 63 shots around the course. Unfortunately He will win absolutely nothing as his score was reduced to 36 for 15 Holes, which is 1 short of the other member of Pancho Villa's gang, Andy Beale.
Surely our generous Treasurer can pay him something....
Richard was also selling tickets for this months 'Booze Draw' which feature a large bottle of Moet & Chandon Champagne.
Someone has to explain to our new member Rod that he is now playing off 7 from next Monday, with Des down to just 6 !
7 Birdies scored, so Farmer Bob allocated it as 60p per person per birdie.

Someone lost a Pitch-Mark repairer in the Locker Room this morning & I have it in my possession if you can describe it. Also Barrie Heath left his wallet up there, but luckily Shaun was there to look after it.
