Medal minus Stableford  – 20th January 2016

Don’t tell Frank, but there were some good scores today as we played a Medal minus Stableford. Most teams bettered par. Conditions varied as the frost melted, but often came back with a vengeance if your ball drifted back into the shade where the frost had not melted.  Minus 7 in lower areas but about Zero up at the Club. All 18 Holes Open.
Only 2 early Birds, plus Tony.

The runaway winners won by 7 shots and there were only 13 shots between first and last.

Bob Barrow and Maurice Arnold graciously played a two ball but were never in with a chance against the other teams who played better ball.

Dear All

At last the bulletin I've been longing to post. Ted is finally home!

He's still very weak and tires easily, but he coped with the hour long journey back to Dorset and is finding comfort being at home. We know it will be a long haul until he is truly recovered, the Doctors think about six months.

We both really want to thank everyone for their support. It has taken many forms from phonecalls, cards, emails, shoulders to cry on, offers of company at the darkest moments, medical advice, to helping me with dog sitting and walking. Knowing that the help was out there, made the last two harrowing weeks manageable.

We trust that one day we will be able to return your kindness, but hopefully not under similar circumstances.

Take care, we hope to be back in the real world soon.

Warmest regards Judith.

The winners will be cut 2 shots and the runners up will be cut 1 shot for the next two weeks.

Clive Fisk and Malcolm Roy played the Rolling Stableford scoring 33 and 27 points respectively over 18 holes. This month’s competition will discount scores on the 8,9 and 10th holes as many of the rounds have been played over 15 holes. Overall leader to date is Andy Beale who scored 37 points over 15 holes on the 11th January.

Fridays’ rollup is the Winter League. Rain is forecast, so a decision to play will be made on the day. In the event of any holes being closed, the scores will not be counted towards the Winter League.

Please remember that whilst winter rules are in force, you may pick, clean and drop your ball in the rough. This does not mean that you can drop the ball more than once, unless when you drop the ball it becomes plugged.
