Winter League Round One.
Despite a little light rain
at the start, the day remained fine and good for golf. The overnight rain
excluded buggies and made the course play longer but despite that conditions on
the course were very acceptable.
We gained another team at the
start and also lost one. Robin Flower and Martin Leigh joined us and if they
continue as they did today will be a team to watch out for. However, John
Wallis decided as buggies were not allowed today, not to continue. Dickie Hall
was away and not available on some Mondays. We shall miss them.
Twenty teams took part, and
nine played an individual stableford. Scoring was steady with the anticipated
front runners getting off to a good start. Thirty eight was the best score
going to the Vice Captain and the retiring Captain; it was all very close with
the leading teams separated by only a point.
Today we learned how we can
improve on this event. The drawn times worked well for most teams and most
people paid the one off £6 per team entry money. The £1.50 weekly money will be
dropped due to the difficulty of fairly administering the wins, so from now on,
get your tee times and play. Today’s money will be returned or credited to your
accounts (please see Keith) and individuals playing the stableford will be now
paid on the day, this week as well. Finally, please make sure that you play to
your correct club handicap and do the correct three quarter calculation and,
when you sign your card check see that the correct scores are shown.
