Patricia AliceCRISP

On 10th May peacefully at home in Crewkerne, aged 89 years.

A much loved wife, mum, nanny and great granny.

Funeral service at Yeovil Crematorium on Monday 2nd June at 2pm
Spare a thought for dear old Sid, a member until he left us a couple of years ago.

Just heard that Bert Robinson has had a nasty fall and we won't see him up there for a wee while.

Another Hole-in-One

It was a stroke of Genius on 13th hole today as Danny sends a clear message to John Sweet ahead of their clash in the Summer Knockout Comp..
An expensive achievement as Danny strode to the Bar for his 2nd Bottle of Port to allow 40 other Golfers to join him
Cheers Danny.

Thanks to Carole & Eric for taking pictures today.

John Sweet continues to advance in Summer Knockouts - he faces Barrie Heath in Singles as Barrie  swept passed Tim Purret 4 & 2 - Barrie is looking forward to giving Sweetie 27 Shots...

Should be a little easier in his next match in Doubles as he has Jethro's love-child Eric at his side to tackle Wandless & Dowell . In an exclusive interview by a  Blog reporter Danny commented

"If JW does the Maths & Nibbles ,  I'll do the Mashie-Niblicks "

If things go to plan, I could be Mayor of Beaminster by the weekend !

From Sir Clive

John, can you tell Barrie and John to get their next KO sorted!

I’ve been waiting in a month to see who I’m up against and just hope they’ve peaked too early. As an incentive I’ll share a “Hole Sponsorship”, Captain’s Charity in July @ £50 with the winner if they’re up for it!

I’m seeking sponsors, are you sponsoring a couple of holes again?

Cheers    Clive

Busy in Bridport...

Great game today vs Bridport away in what is best described as blustery conditions with intermittent shower (gusting 42mph). Food and company were great and topped off with the win. Nobody from CST got the nearest the pin on the drop hole 6th. A really enjoyable day and many thanks to all who played.

See Interclub Matches for Full Result.

DIVOTion to DUTY

From Kaptain Keef :

I would also like to pass my thanks on to everyone that took time out this morning for however long to support the “Divot Party”. It was a good job well done and will go towards making a difference, especially once it has rained over the weekend. It also raises the profile of the Seniors and puts us in a good light. Well done and thank you.

We gathered at the crack of dawn, with Bouncer Steve on Crowd Control

Headed up the First, following Gareth and Nick from Greens staff

Jan doesn't know I have her favourite trowel...

Down 2nd with a stylish  David Asquith, complete with Oakey's , Air Jordan's and Polo Sportswear - expansive re-styling since becoming Treasurer !

Up  11th
" We're going to need a bigger bucket if you want it filling-in"

Not too busy on course as we stood aside to let play continue. Several players thanked us for all the work.

As per normal, one group on 7th, asked ( with a rather posh voice) "Who's in charge here ?" ..as we all stood aside and pointed to Gareth.

" May I make a suggestion, if you chaps all started together at the Green and worked back to the Tee it would enable to you to look out for us that are trying to enjoy a game of Golf !"

In Truth Gareth was brilliant herding us up and down 5th - then half over to 6th, others doing 17th then crossing to 7th etc - all criss-crossing to maximise effectiveness.

Kap Keef was hopping mad when he heard of the interaction and had to be restrained from storming across to approach the offender. Eating Raw Crawfish & Gumbo in the Gulf of America for 2 weeks has done nothing to de-tune him.

Solid 150 Minutes and we covered 85% of the course and if all 25 did as many as myself -

6 per minute  that's 150*6* 25 = 22,500 Divots filled in.

Smashed it !

As promised - Breakfast was awaiting us in the Clubhouse as were the smartly dressed Weymouth Team to face Captain Siabi & our finest, which James managed to sneak a narrow win.

Mind you, hardly an away team as it included former Club Captain Mike Wilkes, a 7-handicapper and former Football Referee Paul Durkin. 9 of their plyers were 11 Handicap and below,

Home match against Weymouth

J Siabi & M Jewell.    Halved

T Rutherford & R Evans Lost 6 & 5

M Kilpatrick & J Lauchlan Won 4 & 3

D Mugridge & J Griffiths Won 2 & 1

B Smith & S Best Lost 3 & 2

P Shorrocks & G Lloyd won & & 4

CST 3.5 Weymouth  2.5
