CST Seniors win Tri Series Trophy

A beautiful sunny, but still a cold windy day welcomed Lyme Regis and Sidmouth senior teams to CST for the final match of the winter tri series.

Going into the game the points score was close with CST leading Sidmouth by 6 points, 489 to 483, with Lyme Regis trailing on 441.

Skipper John W led from the front and posted 38 Stableford points to extend our lead to 13 points, and by the time Mark C came in with 36 points the lead was almost unassailable. Our team averaged 34 points per man and recorded an overall team score of 272 points. Sidmouth came in the 236 points, the team from Lyme Regis finding our greens difficult, struggled to 216 points.

Overall series score

CST   761 points

Sidmouth  719 points

Lyme Regis  657 points

Bob Shepherd, Lyme Regis Captain, presented John Wandless with the Seniors Winter League Shield, which we hope to successfully defend next year.

Many thanks and well done to all the CST seniors who put their names forward to play in these matches. Everybody who did so played in at least one of the matches, and although these were competitive matches, emphasis was placed on the social aspect, and players who had played in last season’s friendly matches were given priority for team selection.

The same process will take effect next year, so get playing in the friendlies this season.

It was dangerous for a while as nearly 40 Seniors whiled away the time awaiting the Fog to Clear.
